As mentioned their are motorized versions to move the plate for you:

Or just pay the fines if you don't want to switch to 99 style.

Front license plates are totally useless! 99spec is only way I would except mounting one.

They're just an easy "gimme" ticket for the cops. They serve no real purpose, and what's worse is that many European cars don't even come with front plates. They're an excuse for cops to pull you over and try to find something else wrong. Really depends on where you are though, Oakland doesn't really care too much, they have better things to do. SF - even the meter maids will give you a ticket if your parked on the street without a front license plate :/

I live in Antioch area and they hardly care of front plates. All my cars didnt have front plates for 5 years. I did however get a ticket for tent and got it written off and cop saw no front plate, he just said I would have got you for that but just get one put on. Most cops dont care of front plate if theres no brackets or anything present that can hold a front plate.

agreed, I'm up in Oakley, cops don't even take a second look. SF is the main area to watch out, especially at the end of the month!

I'm in central VA and they give you a hard time for the same thing. Our law states the plate has to be visible "in plain sight" from the front of the car. I've had to remind a few officers that. I've been pulled several times but never ticketed. Just get a corvette and you be fine.

I don't really care for the stock option for S6 bumpers. I just put mine down between the passenger side oil cooler and radiator openings. It doesn't block too much of either opening so I don't think it makes a huge impact on airflow to the coolers.
