Talking Night and day difference (replaced ecu)

So with the weekend upon us. I decided around Wednesday to start working on some stuff that needed to be done to the 3rd gen. Replace spark plugs and plug wires. Replace the stock thermoswitch with a FC thermoswitch. Install a Efini Y pipe. And replace this POS aftermarket PFS ecu that was installed in my car. I replaced it with a Power FC. For those that haven't taken the plunge into getting a Power FC. It is really a night and day difference. The car runs 100x better so much better throttle response. And the power curve is very linear the way a rotary should be. So if any of you are still running the stock ecu or even worse the PFS get rid of it. I wouldn't even wish that upon my worst enemy.

FYI I have never worked on a 3rd gen till this past couple days. And OMG I took for granted what I had in my 2nd/1st gens. That was like the grand canyon compared the FD engine bay. Like even the simple task of replace the spark plugs wires. Required to remove the throttle body. Sorry for the rant. Before and after pictures

When I bought the car

As it sits today. I replaced those home depot intakes the 2nd week I had the car. I've had the car for 4 months now

I had a question to go along with the last picture. Notice how my radiator looks shiny and not dull black like other 3rd gens. Does that mean its a new one or aftermarket? I haven't found any identifying marks on it.

Looks like you should have replaced the air filters when you replaced the DIY HD intake pipes.

Climb under the car and see if the rad has plastic or metal end tanks. If it has black plastic end tanks, it's stock, if the end tanks are metal, it's aftermarket.

LOL yes that is something I need to still do. I just climbed under their and their plastic end tanks. So I guess its just a stock radiator.

Yeah, with palstic end tanks it's either stock or a stock sized aftermarket from a generic auto parts store.

As long as the stock rad is holding up, it's fine. Yours looks to be in decent shape, I wouldn't worry about replacing it unless you spring a leak or start running out of things to modify

Why did you change the charge piping from the Y-pipe to intercooler? The one in the top photo looks like a better route to me.

Great to hear the power FC had so much of an impact Can't wait to get mine tomorrow and install it! Are you running the base map?

Yes I'm still running the base map. You must remember to let it learn your idle before trying to drive it. I tried to drive it around the block and it would stumble so hard it felt like I was trying to learn stick all over again. But I still want to get it tuned properly for now it runs.

scotty305, the reason for why I changed the charge pipe to a efini y pipe. Is because on the efini pipe bolts to the charge pipe instead of being coupled together. I have had the pleasure of that coupler blowing off before and it sucks. And supposedly it flows a little bit better. And the last reason being is when I switch to a v-mount (knightsport kit). The charge pipe will be in a better location already.
