I’m thinking about reviving my 94 touring. I’ve had it since new, but it’s been garaged for at least ten years. The motor was replaced with a Mazda reman about 10,000 miles ago but the installer did a shitty job and it leaks oil onto the exhaust. So, I am planning on taking it to another shop and having them yank the motor, replace the clutch (I have an ATC that’s never been installed), and replace all of the hoses. Is there anything else that should happen when the motor is out?

Anything else I should be thinking about to bring an old car back to life?

When did the remain got put in? Did you replace anything else while that was being done ? If not. You probably have used oil lines... used coolant lines and some gasket for reused aswell

lets say your car is low mileage and well kept. Time will be the killer here. Thats why i ask when the reman is put in.

oh yea. Then its safe to say. Do a compression test and maybe a coolant pressure test ? and then yank the motor to replace all the turbo oil line/gasket coolant line etcetc. Pretty much everything thats rubber. Cause it might be dry rotted
