Newbie.Buying rx7 tt . help!!
Hey guys, im new to the forum and decided to just ask for help. Since you guys are the pros. I Myself am a supra lover but then fell in love with the rx7 ( cheaper to buy, more bang for the buck ) hehehe.. Buut i want to know da pro and cons to them, just like every other car.. 94 twin turbo, 86k miles , 18 inch wheels, wing, suspension, minor mods. rebuilt turbo at 58 k. www.carnusupercars.com help me peeez! what do you guys think of that car. there are so many diffrent things people say about them like engine blowing , unreliable, but dam i notice they have high mileage, looks like they last pretty long to me haha..
Hey Dude, surprized you haven't gotten jumped by everyone with the infamous post "Search Damn it!"
Anyway, I aint gonna do dat to ya...For one thing they may be cheaper than a Supra to pruchase but probably will be twice as expensive (or more) to maintain. You have to consider that at 80+k on the engine you should be factoring in a rebuild pretty soon...the rotaries usually go about that time.
So in a nutshell
Pros: Fun, sexy lines, lots of power for a light car, handels like a dream, rare....did I mention sexy?
Cons: it's a ******* money pit just saying "Buy me Buy me" waiting there to suck you dry of all the funds you'll ever earn...
Harder to tune than one of those engines with the things inside that go up and down...Engines go boom quite often if not treated properly...prone to heat damage if the right modding steps aren't taken...
So there you go...in the "stickys" at the top of this forum there is lots of useful information for new buyers and for folks starting to mod their newly acquired automobile. So , with all that said have fun reading and hope you make the right decision for you...God Speed!

in general i would not buy from a dealer unless
1. the dealer has full service record from the previous owners
2. have a local rotary expert thoroughly check out the car
like others have said these cars require a little more care than your average car, and I would not trust an average used car place to know it's history (like if it's overheated, why were the turbos rebuilt, etc.).

here is my standard response to posts such as yours:
It’s nice to see you’re interested in a 3rd Gen RX7. However, there is much to learn before you can consider purchasing one. The rotary engine is complicated and requires a lot of attention and work to keep it running well… you will spend a good amount of money each year maintaining an FD (chassis code for 3rd gen RX-7), so you may run into trouble if you don’t have the resources to take care of it properly. Changing the fluids regularly is a must, and learning how to work on the engine yourself will save you a lot of labor charges. Look around on the forums here and read up.
Learn to use the SEARCH function on the forums, instead of posting a question, chances are it has already been answered, instead of waiting for replies to a new thread it is much easier when you can find all the info you need in less than 5 minutes by searching. The SEARCH button is in the top right of the screen, here is a link to the search engine: CLICK HERE
Also, there are TONS of good websites out on the web about RX-7s of every generation, and will cover anything you want to know without having to ask here on the forums... First, read this thread (it's a sticky at the top of the 3rd Gen Section), you should have clicked here first. But if not, CLICK HERE and it will take you to it. It has great links to helpful websites about RX-7s with tons of useful info. Here are some links that all future RX-7 owners should check out before considering buying an RX7:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/index.html
That will help you a lot, just make sure to do your homework… the RX-7 (especially 3rd gens) is a car that must be maintained religiously and they do cost some money to maintain. If you are considering the FD just because it seems cheaper than most other high performance cars, you may want to think twice. You will end up paying much more for this car than just the purchase price. It truly is an amazing, and fun car and can be a very reliable and fun car as long as you know your stuff. Feel free to PM me or any other forum members with questions if you can't find what you’re looking for, everyone here is always willing to help out.

DO NOT BUY FROM CAR-NU!!!!!!
bastards ripped me off...i bought my FD from them about 2 yrs ago...started leaking oil shortly after i brought it home...i took it back they had it for 2 weeks and said they fixed it the prob. (just a turbo gasket)...but of coarse they didn't...engine and turbos blew about a year ago...had the engine and turbos replace by dave at KDR...put over 7k into the car...dave is the man...the car runs amazing now...
sure I could just have bad luck...but the way they took care of the whole situation was real shady...
