Smile NewB, need suggestions on exhaust and ECU..

My exhaust has been sounding a bit louder lately, finally rusted through. I need to replace the catback section. Thinking of going with a RB, anyone know offhand how much I can plan on paying for one? Any other suggestions, I want to stay with the dual tip? Also I know I will need to do an ecu as well, can I have mine reprogramed, or do I need a new one all together? If new what is the brand that is the most problem free? I dont think I am doing any more mods after the catback, at least not for a long time. So I just need an ecu to work with my current setup (dp,mp,apex intake) plus a catback. I did a search, didnt find exactly what I was looking for. TIA

Since you are running a midpipe, either get the Pettit Unlimited or a Power FC. You can pick up a used Pettit for $400-500. A PFC w/commander will be $1250 from the rx7store.net.

The RB exhaust is great, very high quality and good sound. Check the rx7store.net for pricing.

Thanks, I think I will lean towards the Pettit ecu for now, I will check on the pricing.

since you're running a MP I'd stay away from the radical types, like the Apexi Duals for sure. The PFS unit (single tip) or the RB unit would be the best bet. Do you get any boost creep at all with your current setup?
I'd be carefull with those mods without an ECU, especially with the MP.

Pettit ecu forsure if you arent planning on future mods anytime soon. Its a great plug and play ECU. Also the RB unit is the quietest out there if thats what you are looking for, if power is what you are looking for then I would look elsewhere, like the HKS or Apex'i units. Sounds like you are on the right track though, good luck with it.

Thanks for all the input and info guys. As for the exhaust, could I run a more radical exhaust with the pettite ecu, for instance the Apex dual tip? I definatly want to stay dual tip.
Frank, not sure about boost creep, dont have a guage yet (boost pattern was 12-6-12). I bought the car set up this way, it was just done before it was sold. I am trying to get everything else it needs to be reliable and not hurt the motor.

Oooh, man! I would definetely not run a catback now without some sort of ECU, and I would be getting a boost gauge ASAP. With your current mods I'd be worrying about boost creep, which will lead to detonation, which would lead to, well, a new motor.
Good luck man, be careful.
