newb here with a few questions

i just sold my second S14 and im looking for an FD. Ive found a few but its gonna be a long drive so i would like to know exactly what im looking at....now ive heard of the R1 and the R2.....whats the difference? i also hear the rotary's tend to be a money pit....is it unnavoidable that my rotary will be more work than its worth? ive looked up a few pages that tell the history of the FD but they arent very in depth... if anyone can help me out with this i would greatly appreciate it. remember, im a newb, please be nice and dont flame me too bad.
