Im sure the subject has been beaten but i have to ask..... I have a DP and CB, no other engine mods. I am seeing 12psi at times and want to know what my next mod should be and what i will benefit from it other than an extended life span of my motor? I have heard that stock ecu is ok with 12psi and that its not, which is true and what is the diff between ecu upgrade and power fc? And what should i expect to pay for either? If im planning to do cold air intake mod and IC should i wait to map ecu or power fc for those mods as well? Sorry for all the questions, i just really wanna do whats best for my baby and my wallet. Thanks to all that reply

So what do you think I'm safer doing? Keeping the stock ECU with my boost spike issue with only the DP and CB or throwing in the PFC and keeping boost at 10 psi? I'm not determined to race the car and hurt it mind you, I'm just hoping I can have a little fun with it every now and then.

EDIT: If it's NOT safe either way, trust me, I'm not going to go WOT, period. I know I can't debate my way to a safe PFC situation, and while I may be putting up an argument, I absolutely will not do something that might damage the car or engine. /EDIT

Is there any reason to think that with just the DP and CB, I run a risk of being lean at 10 psi with the PFC?

Man, all things considered, everything changed after installing that damn downpipe. All of the sudden boost started going to 12 or so and I can't use my car for what it was meant for. I almost wish I didn't install it now.
Relax. You will be fine. Install it. Not installing a downpipe is the stupidest thing to do to an FD.

You can see my list of mods. I have been lazy about getting my car tuned until I put in my IC. I have been running too long (1+ year) on the base map. It is rich, I backfire like crazy, and the car is fine. I have beaten on it, and I have taken it WOT up to 162.

I do not think you are running much of a risk of running lean. If it was an issue, then APEX would get their asses sued. So they added some more fuel into the map to cover themselves.

As for all those with their lean/EGT stories, I ask, as you have, for specific instances where someone has blown their 7 with the untouched base maps.
In reading this forum for the last 2+ years, I have not heard of anything like that.

You will need to tune it, and you really shouldn't do it yourself either. Now at least, you also have some boost control.
