You probably don't - you probably just push on it until it's about halfway closed, then the resistance goes to nothing and it closes easily. That's how most hood struts work on cars that come with them stock.

I have them up at the store

http://www.rx7store.net/index.asp?Pa...ROD&ProdID=864

I have sold 2 of the 4 I have coming in, so place your order now if you want one. They will then be on backorder for a few weeks.

ok jason, i just placed an order for a set... and a few other things. hang on to one of them for me. also, whats up with shipping costs?? i ordered a defi boost gauge, 2 radiator caps, and the tein hood openers..... $30 bucks for shipping sounds pretty damn high. im guessing the shipping charge doesnt exactly reflect the actual cost of shipping? -heath

Installation looks ridiculously easy. Click on the FD3S application link for the manual, pics, etc. of the unit. There's 2 struts - one on either side. It attaches to an unused hole on the fender and one of the hood hinge bolts. My only beef would be the damper is Tein's green color, which is a little obnoxious, but at least it's a top-quality product.

As someone with the M2 Large IC, which interferes with the OEM hood prop, I think I'm going to spring for this. I haven't had a hood prop for 4 years and hate it.

another question (not so related to this).... but my REAR struts really suck, and i need some stronger ones to open my hatch with a 99 wing. anyone know of any STRONG aftermarket units which would do the job?? i guess i could always order the 99 spec trunk openers... but id need a source to order them from, and im sure they would be extreemly expensive

Almost seems that I found the rear hatch struts in the application catalog at *Pep Boys* of all places. I think they're pretty non-special.

Might be worth checking with some local parts sources and see if they can get something. Probably would be worth trying - new ones would definitely work better than 10 year old ones.

yeah i checked the catalogue at kragen and they can get some aftermarket ones too. but ive heard they are not so strong.... mazda apparantly has a few different versions depending on whether you have a wing or not, and i think they have another one for the 99 wing??? i cant remember exactly (i should start a new thread) ok back to the thread

I still havent recieved mine. I thought he had them in stock but I came to find out they were not expected for another week and now another week delay has become present. Not as if I can make much use of them at this point with my car sitting on jackstands.

Cant wait to see them though, hopefully I can get my car going within the next two weeks and get to install them right about the same time.

Check out rotary extreme. Chuck has made some too. His struts are black and the mounting points are a little more heacy duty. I even think they are cheaper for a set.
