New Streetport wont start

Hi. I just got my new streetported motor, its quite a heavy streetport that flows 20-25% better than standard.

The engine turns and fire once a while, sometimes its even rollin for a second or two and dies.

Its gettin a lot of fuel cause when cranking when it dont want to start its sippering gas from exhaust manifold and out the catback.

Can it be that the streetport affects the ecu so it is gettin to much fuel or have I connected something wrong?

I use the Pettit Ecu and oem injectors that has been checked and allright. I ran the car before the rebuild and streetport with all the other mods and it ran fine.

Thanks for all your thoughts and suggetions.

You put new spark plugs in, right? It sounds like either one or more of your spark plugs is not firing, or you flooded the engine. I think you should check for spark on all plugs, and if thats good, then maybe try the ATF trick for a flooded engine.

I agree. If it is getting too much fuel you moght wanna adjust the fuel pressure regulator to lower pressure. You'll also need to take the excess gas in the motor out. That is if is is over flooded.

Good chance of a flooded engine. Search for the procedure, buy new plugs, and do the lenghtened procedure i.e.
1)pull plugs, turn engine, with gas to the floor, several times
2)let the car sit for 30 min.
3) repeat steps 1 and 2
4)put a few tablespoons of ATF in the leading plug holes
5) put in new plugs and turn engine over, with gas to the floor, a couple of times
6)start engine normally, being prepared to "catch" the engine if it starts to die.

Well, I have got it running but its very strange.

It only runs with the fuel pump fuse out, put it in and it dies.

It worked perfectly with the fuse out from cold to warm engine, then it lost its power and died. I have try changing the o2 sensor and it was the same.

When turning on the engine it runs on one rotor, kick on the gas and bouth rotors are running, let go again and only one is working. What could be the problem?

the spark plugs are new, injectors are checked.

BTW, the A/F shows to lean but when I put the pump fuse in it dies. the ECU doesnt correct the fuel after the O2 sensor cause it doesnt flip back and forward all the time.

just give me the engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why dont you just get a new fuel pump. i didnt see that on your mod list anyways. your fuel pump could be bad. i dunno. its a strange problem.

paul

I got a supra fuel pump. It worked fine before the rebuild.

I have done some more research.

After unflooded the engine. turning key the car runs perfect for 2 seconds, then just looses the front rotor, the front spark plug is totaly clean and the rear is ok.

the o2 sensor is way black so it gets all to much fuel.

I had my engine running last week. it only ran on idle-fuel. you could drive it but it never started running on the O2 sensor-mode. this weekend it started and ran ok til I got 30 feet out to the street and it just died.

I have disabled the air valves to the airpump and placed a lid over the holes. does that affect anything?

Also, My o2 sensor dispays lean when connected to the ecu, not connected it shows max rich. I have got a new O2 sensor and same result.

well, Ive decided to let it rest for the night and take a bite tomorrow morning.

I will put the airvalve back and check the el. connections under the intake. hmm..... I really hate my car right now.

Martin - Damn......... sorry to hear it's not running right! Are you sure your pressure regulator is not at fault? You said it runs when the pump fuse is disconnected but dies when connected. Maybe the diaphragm is damaged? have you tested the regulator with a pressure gauge?

Doesn't the regulator increase fuel during start up - then it floods when you go out the driveway?

Don't give up!!!

well. the fuelpump fuse thing is fixed. it was leaking (a lot) front o-rings at the injectors. the car ran on one rotor with the pump off, cause it used the leak in the o-ring as a carburettor and sucked in the gas .

thats fixed. the car started right up after, but doesnt run now.

My thinking is that the ecu must have a preprogrammed startup program for cold engine.

By some reason it doesnt give me the correct amount of fuel I think.

When it ran last weekend it never started running on the o2-sensor controlled mode, it just didnt give more fuel than idle if I pushed the pedal. Maybe that could be a broken connector to the throttle body, or what do you guys think?

does anyone has a connection diagram for the electrical cables and connectors for the engine?

IT´S ALIVE!!!!

finaly its working ok, not perfect but I didnt think so with the nasty streetport I got.

I think it was the ACV valve that had to be there.

But the thing I wonder about is thet I still dont get any err-codes with even the throttle cable out.
