New RX Tuner Mag Project Car Buildup, Stage 1
My new car is a Montego Blue '93 Touring, in great shape with on 63K miles. It had a new BNR motor, but some other little problems. After sitting for over a year with the previous owner, I bought it and decided to make a magazine project car out of it. Unfortunately it developed a stuck side seal and oil control ring from sitting for so long - rebuild time.
Here are pictures of the motor just before finished, and finished
Then of course, some other goodies had to go on while the motor was out First, the Unorthodox Racing flywheel
The Xcessive (Ground Zero) cast oil pan
And the gorgeous ASE Turbo (www.aseturbo.com) GT35R turbokit, look at how thick those flanges are. Comes with a fat Turbosmart wastegate and everything needed for install.
Can also see pics of the Xcessive (Ground Zero) Lower Intake Manifold in these shots.
And finally the completed Long Block, yes I'm keeping Power Steering and A/C
Upcoming Stages, Monday will have the motor in the car and possibly running - if my KG Parts fuel system gets here in time.
Late next week I'll have pictures of the body kit fitted to the car, and the week after I'll have the car painted in some custom House of Kolor Candy blue. Body kit is the Origin front and side skirts, and Chargespeed rear bumper. Also using the Pre-Auto sleek lights and Pre-Auto front flare fenders and rear quarter flares. Together it should all be a killer package, and something totally new.
After that is suspension, Tokico Illumina's with Racing Beat springs and sway bars. Nothing too harsh, since I want it to be primarily a street car, with occasional lapping days.
Other nice bits coming soon are the www.theraceshop.com full race cage powder coated in aluminum metalflake, and my pair of Bride Vios III seats in Works Blue. By months end I should have my set of Enkei RPF1 typeRC rims, 18x9.5 front and rear.

I guess they use 304 stainless (?)
the manifolds definitely appear to be heavy duty, but even 321/247 stainless can't tolerate the intense heat of a rotary for more than a few years without significant deterioration

I tried doing the angle with my wrist, and I came out with something similar... this guy has experience with the wrist action... lol j/k
Anyway, you should throw on the complete unorthadox pulley kit... get the Power Steering, and underdrive set, etc. Probably dress it up a bit and add 5 more RWHP =)

Ha, somebody dug up this thread I'm sure you could have guessed at the time, but my "running this week" timeframe didn't exactly work out. But it might be this week, or early next. Here are some recent update pics.
Motor installed, turbo side - can see the Rotorsport Racing braided OMP lines
PWR Radiator
Hooaa!
Pettit CoolCharge III SMIC Kit
An inside look at the CoolCharge III core, great design!
Through the CoolCharge III duct
CoolCharge III duct view from the front, bumper removed. I'll cut away some of the frame brace to give it a bit more flow.
3 Shots of the IC Core in place
Power FC in place, attached to a BRAND NEW wiring harness My plan, test the Power FC with Steve Kan tuning ... then compare to the Wolf 3D plug and play ecu with Chris Green tuning. This will be a BIG RX Tuner Magazine story, comparing the 2 ecu's in depth.
Pettit Billet climate control *****
Pineapple Racing air pump elimination pulley/bracked. Not sure if I have it mounted right?
In a few minutes I'm walking out the door. Today we make the downpipe, I finish wiring up my dual stock fuel pumps on the RX-7 Specialities dual pump bracket, and get the KG Parts fuel rails and braided lines installed (hopefully).
