New RX-7 LS1 owner LINK TO PICS

wooooot, just got it yesterday, loving everything except the 3.40 gears, ewwww, i need 3.90s. Please give me your input, let me know what you think. i decided on my next car after lots of bouncing around and analysis ranging from evos to C5s to audis to cobras to single turbo rx7s to supras tooooooo.....
Car: 1993 Vintage Red RX-7 Touring Package

Engine: 2001 LS1 Transplant from a 2001 Z28, engine has 28k miles

Tranny: T56, NASTY

Mods: swap done by http://hinsonsupercars.com

Paint/Body: great condition, paint was redone in 2003, no accidents on the car, clean title, has a few minor things that need to be taken care of but awesome place to start.

Interior: worst part of the car, tan leather drivers seat bolster is worn down and one DIN is empty, plus, the interior is tan/black not black/black so that'll be taken care of in the near future.

Wheels/suspension: Volk LE37s in gunmetal w/ polished lip, 18x8.5 on front 18x9.5 on back w/ 235/35/18 Azenies 615s on front and 275/35/18 615s on back, unbadged Cusco/D2 coilovers, Traction bar

i didn't take the pics, those are the pics from the for sale ad, i'll clean the car up and get some of "my" pics of it later. cost $19k, i jumped on it cause it is as clean of a slate as you can get considering it is an LS1 FD.

Looks like a good place to start, like you said.

First thing I would do would be to replace those tires. A side wall patch is never very safe, and they look almost wore out anyway.

Seems like you got alot for what you paid though. Good buy.

my previous car was sponsored by BFG and that sponsorship will transfer over to this RX-7, so tires aren't a problem, but i agree, the fronts are ~30% tread and the rears are 70% w/ that patch.
--2000 TypeR fully bored/blueprinted/built/balanced/boosted running 14psi daily and 20psi on race 375whp & 450whp, the built jun head had a redline of 10.5k....it was INSANE, check it out in the july 2006 (current month) edition of Honda-Tuning, or not, i sold it for $23k on friday.

Nice. So this is a stock LS1 correct? Are you liking the power/torque?

HOLY **** that ITR is my good friend Tyler's old car. Tyler stopped by the other day since he was in town and I got to check out his evo (your old one). That ITR was badass though, I tried to talk him outa getting rid of it lol. Regardless, congrats on the LS1 FD purchase.

Kendon,

I'd like to do an LS1 conversion also for my '93 RX-7. Did Hinson do a good job? Can you give me some more feedback or a testimony please?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like a very good deal. Yes I agree tyres must be cahnged but the rest looks except a bit the interior ut whos 7 have not some trouble with interior.

Take care of her and do not be too confident on rare wheel driving if its you first try with such a powerful car. Take your time.

Congrats on the purchase. I test drove the car a few times when I was really interested in it. Didn't end up picking it up because like you said, the interior is pretty beat. Good luck with it, take care of it, it's a beautiful car from the outside as you can see and driving that thing is a blast. Once my rotary's life is up, I'll be going to same route. Enjoy!

*why cant i edit my 1st post, oh well, here's some pics from this morning*

YGTBSM -- hinson did an awesome job on the swap, everything looks great now that it's all cleaned up (spent a little time on it this morning and man, 100% better)...if you are able to be without your car for the time that hinson has the car and can get on the list, i recommend it...but put an LS2 in .

2MCHPWR -- I personally dont know if the gears are 3.40s or not, that is just what the previous owner told me and i took his word for it. i guess i need a chart of speeds in certain gears w/ the 3.73s, 3.90s, 4.10s and 3.40s for good measure so i can figure out which ones i have....annoying.
