Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Is this for real? Or just another set of photos Photo shopped together? Really not sure on that rear wing either.
I think hand on heart until Mazda put something up on their own website Im inclined to not believe any of these.

I can see three giveaways that the image is not for real.
1. There's a picture of an FD3S rear subframe cradle in there.
2. Another small picture of the FD front suspension cradle.
3. A picture of an RX-8 unibody shell. Look at the door opening shape. Its RX8. Now look at the side of the "new RX7". The side profiles do not match.
The problem with all this is, why would they show small photos of parts of past cars which they presumably would not be using in the new RX-7?
I mean come on, its not going to use the rear subframe from an FD. Nor the front suspension setup. They can do better nowadays, and they will not reproduce outdated parts to fit a brand new RX-7 design, because that flies in the face of production logic.
Then, they are showing a bare RX-8 shell, trying to imply that this as well, is part of the new car you see here. Judging by how different (and butt ugly) the "new RX-7" looks, there's no way it uses an RX-8 unibody, because look how different every single panel is. Including the welded-on panels on the bare RX-8 frame VS the new RX-7.
I call BS. Creatively fugly BS... Sorry to burst your bubble OP, but I highly doubt thats a concept illustration. For example, look at the black rubber molding around the top of the side window glass. Now look at the complete lack of windscreen molding in the front shot. That shows an illustrator who forgot some details, or isnt very fluent with vehicle design. The front windscreen molding edge just looks too unrealistic and unreasonable to be part of a professional concept image put out by a global carmaking power such as Mazda. Mazda can pay concept artists a hell of a lot of money to produce some very nice & detailed glossy concept art. That does not look polished enough to come from Mazda, and I'll eat my left knee if it is :p

The unibody shell is for RX-8, it saids in the article. Even not knowing Japanese I doubt that the writer is trying to tell us that's the unibody Mazda is using, most likely trying to say what good things from the 7 and 8 will carry over to this new RX-7, just a thought.
But is it just me or that thing has BRZ and Camaro written all over it? Looks ugly.
