New rims on my FD

Hey guys just got a christmas gift for my fd. New 18x8.5(front) and 18x9.5(rear) with falken tires. I know the chrome is going to take some getting used to...but it actually doesn't look that bad in person. They actually look like some sort of HRE. They onyl had gunmetal or chrome and i am not a fanof gunmetal so i went with chrome. Well i'm in love with them lets see what you guys have to say. BTW not too great of pics so i'll take better ones during the day.

I think they look tasteful with the car being black.

Very nice man. What size tires did you go with?

I do agree you should look into some springs or coil-overs, though. Would add a real nice agressive look to her.

I'm in the same boat as you... baja riders for liiiiiife lol

i''m running 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear, the rear rim comes out lil more then the tire..and its getting very annoying i think i should of gone with 275. ya i have coilovers and drilled rotors on my list to do very soon. Ya i was nervous abotu going chrome..because its jsut tacky on imports but the black actually made it work out fine. They are cheapy wheels very good bang for the buck. They might be easy to bend..etc. but I don't drive aggresive or race anymore so they should hold up fine. Go them for 1550 with the tires. rims alone were $950, gunmetal is like $750..btw thats all 4. Its a brand called Ruff racing...sort of fits my forum name lol.

What are you going to do about your brake rotars/calipers? The first pic looks like there is a bit of rust showing, kind of makes it look bad a bit. Those are sweet rims though.

Nah not really rust..just dirty hasn't been washed for a while. Not sure about calipers yet might leave them stock and just change the rotors. But I might go with the big brake kit or research on brembos. Rotors probably cross-drilled.

Hey Buddy, looks good.........may I make a suggestion

(and actually this goes for anyone on the board who is interested).

Every spring, (though it doesn't matter for you since you live in CA) I use a flat black rust proof tremclad type paint and coat the inside of all of my wheel wells with a light fresh spray of paint.

I jack up the car, remove the wheel, then putting blankets underneath the car, taping around the parts where I don't want paint to hit, and a fresh wet cloth (for any overspray if your not careful) and I gently and extremely carefully (you need patience) coat the whole wheelwell with the black paint.

So, when looking at the car & wheels, you don't ever see the ugly worn away colour of some of the wheelwells I see on a lot of cars. It keeps it clean, looks nice, and the darkness fills the wheelwell in, hence giving the car the look that you do not notice as much that the car is still stock ride height.

I do it every other spring, and takes me a nice saturday afternoon.

Cheers,
Chris

I'm still drooling over that clean engine bay, personally.

The rims are tasteful IMO. Chrome DOES look good on black.

Keep up the good work.

Thnx for the compliments guys, good advice chris77 about the painting. I might actually try that but i still plan on putting some springs on it. Ya my engine bay is very clean. Its a 95 and its in perfect condition when I bought it three years ago it was immaculate. I did the mods and try to keep it cleaning by having it detailed regularly.
