New Paint? Under Factory Warranty?

As I was looking through the Technical Service Bulletins I noticed that Mazda will offer a repaint on the red, black, and montego blue cars. It sounds like they had an adhesion problem with the paint and primer. This requires a full strip down to metal and then a full repaint. Nice.

Anyways, If you car was repainted already (by other then Mazda) would Mazda honor the repaint under this condition? The car was red and it was repainted red so the color did not change.

I will be calling Mazda to see what recalls/warranty items were done to my car. The first time I called I received “no available representatives, try your call later” message. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to find out if my car had all the recalls done to it.

Thanks

That info is left over from when FD's were still in their factory warranty - none are under warranty any more, unless you want to buy that unregistered Montego Blue automatic .

It’s a ways in but check it out.

It sounds to me like a recall (sorry, I should have worded it differently) that they are not advertising and if you’re not pushy about it they could decline you.

I still have yet to get through to Mazda. But when I do I will ask all sorts of things.

So there is a time frame/limit as to when you can get the recalls done. I understand that the warranties will not cover anything any more.

Me too. I guess it's worth a try for new paint. I'll see what Mazda says when I finally get through to them.

are you joking? you cars already been painted. they did this back in the mid 90's because a 35k+ car should not have adhesion problems between the top and base coat. There was also chiping on the rockers (more than whats normally accepted). Besides it was a tsb not a recall. that means its a case by case basis. Unless you like to waste your time give up.
