new motor from Malloy has oil in the shipping contain?????

I just got a reman delivered from Malloy and the container has a little oil at the bottom.

should I be worried?

There are not obvious damages and I'm wondering if this is just some left over oil from prepping the engine for shipment.

Acutally, that's a good sign! During re-assembly there are several steps where assembly type oil (Marvel Mystery Oil, or equivalent and plain old motor oil, etc.) are used to mate the faces and to prelube the bearings. A little bit would be expected to weep out during shipping. BTW, how much did they charge you for the re-man, minus shipping, tax, etc? Not being nosey, just thought the rest of our fellow boostards (myself included) would like to know!

that's good to know. It's not allot. Just a little at the bottom of the container. My previous motor had to have the oil pan looked at several times and I'd hate to put this one in and have the same problems.

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

costs.

1-reman Mazda engine....... $1950.00
2-gaskets -bushings- nuts.. $100.00 approx.

Total $2050.00 for those inquiring minds out there.

The reman used to be $1750 but I guess Mazda is putting the squeeze on them.

That's still a pretty good price! Remember that Delco-Remy just took over all the reman business from Mazda, and you know there's a reason they bought the business.........I just priced a new GM 454 reman engine for my truck and it was almost $4K - for a freakin' Chevy, and there's only a few hundred million of them out there!:p

the mazda reman prices did just go up. the oil in the crate is there becuse they fill the engines with oil and rusty water and spin them up to make sure they have oil pressure, they obviously dont check compression.

novice question

Okay let the heckling begin....what is a reman...is it remanufactured?

While I'm at it...what is the difference b/w "blue printed" vs reman??

Why remanufacture vs rebuild? apex seals in reman's?

Be easy...

What was the delivery cost and the core cost? How much is it to ship the core back?

Acutally, it's spring water from Mt. Fuji!
