Question New modified engine?

It's official that my motor's blown (thanks to your help, I recently concluded that). I'm going to take it to M2 Performance hopefully soon, but I have a quick question before.
A friend from work brought up the point that a stock Rx-7 motor is made for 10psi. My car, with some basic mods (M2 downpipe, M2 exhaust, HKS intake, modified ECU) was pushing 12 psi. It also had boost creep and pushed 15psi, which blew my motor. The friend said I should look into buying a new but modified engine that can support the extra boost and should last longer, since it'd be made to handle the extra "beating."
However, I know that some performance shops just finely tune stock engines and have them safely pushing 12psi.
It seems logical that you'd want to fork out the extra money to have the engine that can handle more, but I'm not a hardcore racer and a restrictor plate seems a little bit cheaper than a new super motor. Does anyone even know how I'd go about looking into better motors that aren't stock from the factory, or price quotes?

Thanks, guys!

Well, your friend is incorrect. The stock internals can take alot of boost, but the only thing it cannot take is detonation due to LEAN conditions IE why you blew your motor. There are people all over this forum running 15+ boost, and dragsters running 20+ on stock internals. Its all about the tuning.

Check out places like

www.pineappleracing.com
they have great prices on motors all depending on your future plans for the car.

If u just want a straight up remanufactured engine, order it from malloy mazda, ask for ray crow. I done have the number off hand, but search the forum for it. That will run u around 2k with a core exchange.

So yes, your friend is incorrect. ITs all about the tuning so that lean situations are not present.
