about to buy an Rx7

Hi, im very new to the rx7's and im wondering if you all could answer me some question about the car. Ive heard alot of horror stories about the car blowing up and such is this due to poor maintanence of the car? or does the car naturally have a time set to where the motor dies. And how does the car respond to mods? also is it really hard and expensive to maintain the car? im sorry i know i might be posting in the wrong forum but if you could help me i will much appreciate it. Thank you.

It is common for original engines to lose the coolant seals near 60k miles. Some live longer but not many. If the coolant seal fails teh engine will have to be rebuilt or replaced. A remanucatured engine will run you around $1900 for the block only. Installation gaskets will be extra. Generally around $400.
If you leave them stock you will not blow one up. Only when you modify the car and do not tune the engine properly will you get yourself in trouble.

If you leave them stock, drive it according to the rules (warmup and cooldown without boosting), only use 93 octane gas, and take care of ALL maintenance in a preventive fashion, they will not blow up. Read those links.
