New member, Need some help :(

Hey, im a new member but I have owned this 94 rx7 for about 2 years now. I have been trying to sell it but not im kinda wanting to drift it. The problem is that I have no power steering... Im not sure what the previous owner did or changed (if any changes were made the the rack or anything like that im not sure). I was wondering if there was any way I can get a list of everything i need to put the PS back on.. i found a PS pump (which i think is the hardest to aquire, but i still am not sure how hard it is to do this and what would be the best way aboput going about it.

My mechanics skill is a little rough but i have a few friends who are much more mechanicaly inclined who are willing to help. I searched and found some info, but i am really trying to get some specific information about this, thanks in advance.

Most of the harder-core drifters actually remove their power steering equipment in favor of manual steering. I'm not sure how dedicated your are to drifting your FD, but it's something to consider.

hey thanks, but from what i know of most of the ones without P/S are carollas and smaller cars. It doesnt feel bad once your moving, so maybe i will try some higher speed drifting before actually putting the p/s back on. But I also thought maybe taking the Electric P/S pump off the mini cooper.. since mazda wants $900 for a new P/S pump.. not sure if it will work but it would make things a bit easier if the electric one would work. I found a used one for $75 but i cant find the factory brackets which makes me think i need to hit up some junk yards or somethin, maybe get the whole setup for cheap.. I hope someone can give me more advise on this, thanks again.

I hate to say this but why would anyone want to drift one of the classiest cars made in the last 20 years. The looks compete with most sport cars, except those costing three times the original cost of the 3rd Gen RX7.. Oh well drift and the value of mine goes up.

I donno, I drift my mk4 competetivley and am having to cutt it short this season.. im 3rd in a Formula D pro am series with it but I cant really handle the traveling right now (I have to drive in my drift car, which is fully gutted, roll caged, one racing seat, no radio and rediculous camber..) Plus its very hard on the car to drive 750 miles one way, do a competition, then drive another 750 miles... plus there are many maintenence/upgrades i would like to do to make the car to be more competetive..

Well the thing about this rx7 is that I have no title, and the guy i bought it from is no where to be found.. so im basicly siiting with a car i cant sell or get licenced. Which is my fault completely, but it doesnt change the situation. I love the handling of the rx7, i love the rotary and it has a huge weight distribution and weight advantage over the supra, so i would like to mess around with it a bit, to see maybe if i like it's potential compared to the supra.

I love my supra, but i think the rx7 can go further, so im thinking of maybe continuing the build on it and replace some things to make it a better drifter.. or maybe do some road racing in the future (since i already have a drift car).

YOU LUCKY BASTARD!!!

i went to a little drift day down at moroso and there was a fourm member named Tragic00 i believe and i believe he was the best wont out there no lie, i want to bring my car but dont have the extra cash atm for some junk rims and junk tires..
But like i said i would keep the radio and interior in my car just add the cage and be set.. hell if i had another car then i would gut it out and use it but not the 7, but still want to drift it tho

yeah, events are fun until you get to competitions with a lot of politics... it makes the sport un-fun and not worth all the time/money sometimes, thats why i want to mess with my rx7, since im not going to be drifting with the supra, i can have some extra funds and time to mess around with rx7.

I think me and a friend are gonna take a look at a turbo 2 motor to see if the power steering stuff will bolt on to the 3rd gen 13b.. if it does then im just gonna use that stuff. I read that the electric power steering can go out at times durring normal driving, dont need that for spirited driving . Does anyone know if the P/S brackets are the same from the turbo 2 motor and the 3rd gen 13b? I would imagine they would, but im not sure..

My power steering was removed as well.

What was (probably) done was to "loop" the old power steering lines together. What you'll (again without seeing the car is "probably") need is the power steering pump, idler pulley, bracket and the two lines from the power steering pump to the rack. I found everything in the 3rd gen for sale section from other members. You might want to send a PM to "Fritz Flynn" as he has just about everything. I think I paid about $150 or there abouts for everything I needed.

Also, if you don't have A/C which I would assume you don't since you don't have the PS bracket and the A/C compressor is attached to the bracket also, you'll need a different belt than the stock specified belt. I think the belt needed is 36.5 inches but I'm not positive offhand.

So hook up the bracket, idler pulley, pump and lines that go to/from the rack. Attach the electrical connetor from the P/S pump to the harness and you'll be good to go. If you don't hook up the electrical connector I don't believe that will cause any issues since I think its just used by the stock ecu to adjust the idle because of the P/S. Not sure about that since I don't have a stock ecu and the connector is removed for me.

It should be very straightforward. Check the 3rd gen service manual for more information. You can find it posted online here:
