New Koyo Rad Ordered- Now Evans or Normal Distilled water

I just orderd a new koyo rad, my is leaking around the plastic end caps.

Sence i am getting a new clean rad, witch type of coolant should i go with,

I like my current setup, 99% Distilled Water and Royal Purple Cooler, But i have been hearing alot about this evans coolant (Non-Water Based) I would like to get some feedback on this.

Please repost if you have Evans running in you system or if you are running a almost 100% Distilled water in your system. This way we can keep it on subject.

Thanks so much

ALSO..... I am looking for a new Underbelly for my FD

I'm running the Evans NPG+ with zero pressure. I like the fact that it has no water. I've yet to see higher than normal running temperatures and I live in a very hot and humid climate 70% of the year. It pretty much boils down to what features your looking for the coolant to do. I chose Zero pressure to reduce stress on the components of the system (seals/hoses) and lack of water to not have to worry about corrosion. The fact that it will handle higher temeratures without boiling over at zero pressure was another consideration. Been running it for three + years now and have removed coolant on several occasions to do work on the motor and just reuse it when I'm done with the maint. That's mt experiance with it so far and I'm sure you will get more now that I've posted my $.02

no experiance with evans, however you shouldnt use strictly water. antifreeze both lowers the freezing and raises the boiling points while acting as a lubricant for the system.

Don't use distilled water. Use de-ionized or something like that. I forget the details, but there are lots of kinds of "water" and contrary to what conscientious car guys are inclined to do, distilled water is NOT good for cooling systems. I bet if you search google for "distilled cooling system" it will turn up the answer about what is the best kind of water to use.

I have Evans NPG+ in my car, and it works fine though I haven't really torture tested it yet. No problems in "normal" street usage, though. I think they have an improved formula now.

I'm getting opposite results...I'm reading that deionized water is more harmful to the system--being that it is deionized, "unballanced" or pure, it picks up other ions from its surronds(aluminum, air, rubber, and other)...distilled water is supposed to be better--the harmful minerals have been removed , as with the deionized water, but it is "balanced" and is not as aggressive...the use of distilled water, "Water Wetter", and coolant is supposed to be the best way...This is what I am gettind when I search...feel free to counter this!

D'oh! You're right -- I just searched and that is what I found, too. They all seem to recommend distilled.

Maybe the thing I read that prompted my post was to warn against de-ionized water. My searches seemed to indicate that that was bad.

Sorry for the bad info.

Hey, no problem; we all make mistakes--especially so late at night!...anyway...I have also seen that either is ok but never deionized over distilled...The sites explaining the distilled over deionized seemed to give better reasons and explanations, whereas the other sites just seemed to say use either instead of tap water!

The reasoning was that de-ionized was supposed to help against electrolosis (created by the heat, minerals in the water, and the different metals the motoor it self is made of) tyical coolant (used with water) has different addatives in it to counter act the electrolisis (sacrafisical components in it) to help fight the corrosion caused by the mix of metals and minerals (that's why they recomend replacing and flushing the system (to replace these adatives as they get used up over time) this was one of the major reasons I went to Evans (lack of water/minerals introduced into the system) de- ionized water doesn't remove the minerals, distilled water is supposed to be free of the minerals.
