new j-spec turbos and no boost?
new j-spec turbos and no boost?
just had my twins replaced with 99-02 j-spec turbos after the stock ones wound up with cracks in the exhaust port. i didn't do the the work and plan on taking it back to the shop. in the mean time, i'd like to see if i can figure the problem out. i haven't installed a boost gauge yet but it feels like the secondary turbo is not kicking in. car takes of fast and i feel the boost at until i get into 3rd gear. after that the car feels like it's NA instead of turbo charged.
could it possibly be a boost sensor or vacuum line prob? any suggestions on areas i might start looking. my first thoughts are the mechanic missed something during the install. if ur part of the norcal "sacramento area" crew then give me a shout.
fyi - dunno if this means anything or not but when i pull the bypass lines off of the air filter i only get air off the bottom line when revving the motor. is that normal if the engine is not under load? just tried to find a quick way to prove to myself that only one turbo was boosting. thanks!
- 18" bronze CE28N's are making nice paper weights until i get some cash for rubber :-D
