new idea :) need input

hey guys

i was contemplating the other day with my fabicator about vmounts and oil coolers

he did my top ic, i just supplied the ic core and i know he can do it

well heres my idea

thats just a rough sketch, but self explanitory

the oil cooler lines would be much shorter

well i was wondering some of your opinions about this

ask for clearance for fans and the ground there is enough space for the ic to be moved up to accomodate the oil cooler, while not letting the rad fans position too low than it already is

let me know guys

mike

I'd say by judging from the angles the ic and radiator are (i know its just a sketch, but also trying to picture it mentally), it wouldnt be efficient. v-mv-mounts have always been a source of dispute because some are poorly built and do not live up to the expectations of many, and by doing this, it may not live up to what you are expecting out of it. But the theory sounds ok, and you should do it anyway to see how it does and post it up.

Sorry but I fail to understand the benefits of this modification to the v-mount. The oil coolers already have dedicated openings and ducting and are out of the way of everything else. There is ZERO reason to clutter up the front of the engine any more with trying to fit an oil cooler in there somehow.

I feel the same way. And I personally cannot seem how you are going to get adequote airflow to the rad, the IC will probably get more. On the other hand I know of a few JDM Tuners that use a similar setup, but on FCs (since the FDs have the coolers on the side). Anyways, the setup on the FCs have the intercooler in the same place as your picture, but the rad and the intercooler a switched. In the FC case they use atleast one FC oil cooler, some times two in line.

I would also think, that having to devide up the air that comes in from the front bumper opening, to the only three heat exchangers for the car, would be a bad idea. The incoming air should also take the path with the less resistance. Possibly not going threw the radiater (BAD). Your also pulling your intake air from this area.

You would lose some clutter and should I say weight. If you are running twin coolers.

Maybe one option would be to get a larger, more eficiant single cooler for the driver side duct. Then you could use the other cooler duct (passenger) for intake air.

Man I 'm slow at typing, I guess I'm explaning the same thing as everyone else
