New Greddy Front Mount Intercooler on the Market.

I just got a shipment of Greddy front mounts and the newest addition is the 2 row with M Spec core (Bar and Plate design). Same dimensions as the popular V spec core with identical piping and requires the Greddy elbow. Only difference between the kits is the core.

Super low price of $499

I dont have a tape measure here, but I know there is a thread somewhere with that info.

It comes with all the hardware to relocate the radiator.

The only difference I see between the V spec and Mspec is the fins on the V spec are a little longer. Performance gains should be similar.

I have 2 left. Sold 3 in about an hour

That is an awesome price, especially for a reputable brand name product. It will be interesting to see if there were any significant losses in performance with this core switch.

Why the heck is the Greddy SMIC so darn expensive? I think everyone would agree that there are alot more material that goes into a FMIC than the SMIC, therefore, shouldn't it be more like $350 ish for the SMIC?

This an amazing price for any intercooler, let alone a Greddy one. Isn't bar and plate more efficent than the older v spec unit, this is according to Corky Bell's book?

umm.. this is 2 FAQ's copied from Bell Intercoolers:

#1. What are the variations in core construction used in intercoolers?
The variations are in the style of manufacture of the core material. A “Bar and Plate”-Style Core is made by brazing up a layered structure of flat plates separated by small rectangular spacers. A “Tube and Flange”-Style Core is created by extending a series of tubes through a header flange and brazing the assembly together. For heavy duty applications, pressure spikes up to 250 psig and rugged environments.

#2. Does one style core cool better than another?
No, almost no difference. With three decades of testing intercooler’s, we have found no appreciable difference between any core style or manufacturer. Keep in mind, that the merit of a core is it’s efficiency versus its internal drag characteristics. When sized for a tolerable flow loss, virtually all cores will produce essentially the same efficiency results. Perhaps a core with slightly less flow area per linear inch, or one with longer tubes, will need perhaps 5% more tubes to equal the best of intercooler’s with regard to flow loss and efficiency. Not a very important difference.

so fin and tube is for more hardcore application than bar and plate. but like Jason said, cooling efficiency shouldn't be all that different. its the size of the core that makes significant difference.

I'm interested. I kind of have cooling problems at the moment, so would this be a bad thing to do? I only have a stock intercooler too, but a fluidyne radiator.

Are you limited to a v-mount with the stock bumper on an 93fd? Or will this fit behind it, possibly with a little trimming? And it says it was designed for the stock twins....does that include 99 spec turbos?

As I mentioned in another thread, TRUST is teamed up w/ RE. The V-mount that TRUST makes is sold *exclusively* under the RE brand name. And yes, it requires quite deep pockets...

Great price Jason (and Greddy for that matter.) I wish my climate could withstand a FMIC. Still very happy with my ASP med.

Good luck, as I'm sure you'll make a ton on the sale of these IC's.
