hey guys. just though i would say hi and i'm new. i am currently a senior in high school with a volkswagen GTI 1.8T 5 speed. i've spent a modest amount on putting stuff on it and i decided to stop modding it. in about a year i'll graduate and go to college and pass that on to my sister
so i was thinking of maybe getting a decently used gen 3 rx-7 later on. i've heard that the renesis isn't very durable due to some heat issues but yea i'm saving a lot to get the whole motor rebuilt if i have to. i've been into japanese cars since middle school but i ended up getting a euro and i am actually not very satisfied even though my parents bought me it. but all the mods on it were paid by me.
anyway, hopefully you guys are much friendlier than the guys on vwvortex.com.

Just to get this out of the way before anyone gets all worked up over this... The 3rd generation RX-7 has a 13B-REW engine. The RX-8, came with the RENESIS. The RENESIS is the newest rotary engine from Mazda and it's only available on the RX-8.

Keep the GTi, they are great cars and will outlast the FD
I'm going into my last year of college (undergrad anyways). I just bought my first FD, & I found an R1 for cheap or else I would have waited until I was almost done. The worst part is that the FD is really a car you would not want to leave on a college campus (asusming you live on campus). Too many people walking past it would make me worry about it all the time. Plus, I don't drive around much while at school (except for the occasional commute back home) so I don't see any sense in paying the costly insurance bill to be able to drive the 7 every once in a while. Now if you're living at home & driving to school everyday... & have few bills to pay... & live in an area with no snow... & have a backup car for when the 7 breaks down... go for it... they're a lot of fun.
