New to FD's Just A Few Questions

ok I Just bought a 93 FD and it runs great but when it idles with head lights and a/c on it'll stall out but when they are turned off it wont stall and it runs fine so my first questions would be.... any ideas what it could be? im taking it to PTuning in Manassas VA on wednesday to get a diagnostic but i jsut thought i get a few of your guys opinions.

second my car smokes a little on start up but once i start driving it goes away instantly. people told me its no big deal what do you think?

third the previous owner put in a DIY Duel MBC do you think i should take it out and put in a Power Fc and a Commander?

fourth when im speeding down the road at about 6500 rpm my car seems like it hitting a rev limiter but it continues to go past a few seconds after it shakes im guessign rev limiter is about 7500rpm but im not really sure any ideas?

These are all really basic, oft-repeated questions. Answers to most of them can be found either directly or indirectly from the FAQ.

how much boost are you running? What are your mods? You can turn up your idle using the adjustment screw on your throttle body that should help you out.

the "rev limiter" youre feeling is probably Fuel Cut.....not good...what boost are you hitting??....and do you have a complete list of mods??.....

the smoke could be from your turbos.....and the stalling is probably related to the idle air control solenoid.....you can temporarily adjust the idle screw up to defeat the system but you will have a high idle when accessories are turned off.....

THESE ARE THE MODS:
polished aluminum door sills, aluminum ast, koyo radiator, k&n fuel filter, 17lb racing beat flywheel, downpipe, ss clutch line, poly motor mounts, dual DIY MBC, fighters garage intake, defi boost and water temp d-gauges w/ center speaker mount, turbojeff battery tray with 51R battery

im boosting at 9 and i dont really think it the turbos smoking because alot of the other FAQ ive read about the rx7 that morning smoke for 5 seconds is common and its not black smoke or anythign its just light colored until i start drving it

So you are too lazy to spend 10-20 minutes searching the FAQ or previous threads and would prefer that someone else would spend that time writing the answers for you.

If you can't search for 'white smoke', for example, and find the answer you are looking for in 5 minutes then there is something wrong with your head.

FD stands for 'flagrante delicto'.

FD is the chasis, the chasis code is FD3S, the previous older RX-7's are FC3S.

Sorry for being so harsh - but your questions have been asked many, many times. Crtl-F will not do it for you. Use the "Search this Forum" button on the top right on the forum thread list.

White smoke (not steam) will be OIL....oil certainly should not be seeping through a fresh motor...so the next area to look at will be the Turbos...the turbos have lots of oil passing through them and when sitting it is common for the oil to creep past the seals and get into the housings...thus burning upon startup.....

Black smoke will be FUEL....and usually shows itself when the car is either not firing well or running very rich....

Steam(also White) will be very short lasting and dissipates rather quickly as the liquid returns to its vapor state and blends into the ambient air.....this smoke will come from Coolant/water getting burnt through either the combustion process or in the turbos....

all of these scenarios are not good and either way should be fixed to ensure the longevity and performance of your engine is maintained..... good luck!

your car runs 95 degrees celsius on average? whats up with the 180-220? if those triple digits are your temps as well then you might want to have a look at your cooling of the vehicle since high temps are a common cause of death for the FD. mine usually averages about 95 - 98 celcius but on really long trips will go up to 102 but never past that mark. i would like to improve that further however so i been studyin the FAQs which i recommend for you as well.

i spoke to a guy who fixes rotary engines and when i asked him about what the overheating temps are for an FD he said 110 degrees celcius, would like to hear what other guys say about this.

mine is water temp in fahrenheit which would be yeah roughly 95 celsius which is about same as yours mine has never passed the 220F mark and thats even when im boosting going 120 down the road but the car does seem to get awfully hot but that makes me a little more concerned im taking my car to a Artisan Autobody tomorrow i know a guy there who works on 3rd gen's so maybe he can help me with my car issues if not im going to PTuning and getting a full diagnostic on wednesday
