NEW FD OWNER !!!! (God and The Wankel Spirit Say NO!)

Well today turned out to be one of the most heart breaking day's of my life. I was going to pick up my first and SINGLE TURBO FD for 16k (See sig for full details). Well without doubt the first thing I wanted was a compression test. The seller guy is a really good guy so he did so and I thought everything was alright.... (The engine had only 6,000 miles on it). Anyways he calls me up and says the motor is getting 40psi on the rear rotor I say WHATTTTT. Mazda is replacing the motor as I understand it with a brand new motor and hoses and all covered by the 1 year warranty that I was also receiving. Weither this is a good story or bad I am really heart broken about my FD and if not FD's in general. I guess time will only tell of what I will do. According to Mazda it will be done not next wednesday but the one after. I have been waiting for a FD for about eh 6 months. So ya. Thanks for reading. I also wanted to ask if in the end I do get it I forget the breakin time ? Also the drive is about 400 miles and if drove improrperly will it really matter or will it matter how I drive it after because I am not doing the drive the seller was kind enough to offer to drive it here for my inconvience ?

Haha thats funny right. Anyways the guy that works at the dealership is a certified Rotary tech that supposdly has some connection (through work or something I dunno didnt get in the details) with MazdaSpeed. So he did the single turbo conversion for the guy and he bought a extended warranty. I have paperwork showing that it was installed by Mazda.

Sorry to hear about that.
First of all, why is Mazda doing the engine R&R? Did the same people do the last R&R? I guess there is still not enough horror stories about dealers to scare people.
Most people will agree that break-in ranges from a low of 500 miles to a high of 1500 miles. That means minimum boosting and no WOT. Change the oil between 500 to 1000.

Lets see, an engine with 6K and a single dies. Sounds like somebody didn't tune it properly.

Don't worry man, 6 months looking for an FD is not uncommon. It took me a couple years to find the right deal.

WAIT.

Stock injectors? fuel pump? ECU too??? If so, that is a timebomb.... I would be surprised he got even 40psi out of that engine after driving it around boosting...

Never tuned single turbo motor = blown motor.

Seriously, it CAN be a good car, you are getting it with a new motor, just don't boost it on the way home and have it tuned after you buy it.

I'd wonder about the car's upgrades if he were to cheap to put any of the required supporting mods for a single turbo (injectors, fuel pump, ECU, etc).

That may be at 9PSI, but I would bet the CFM flowing at 9PSI from the stock twin turbos is not the same CFM from TD06. That's the problem with driving it without being tuned.
