New Exedy Hyper clutches

So my FD has an ACT clutch (probably the HD) with a fairly heavy pedal effort.

Will the new, ridiculously named Exedy Hyper Single VF be closer to stock? It looks like a bit of overkill for the street (I think the metal friction material will eat flywheel friction plates), but it might be good for racing.

The Hyper Single UF looks better adapted to the street with an organic friction material, but it's only available for Honda cars right now.

Depends on how much power you're making and plan to make. I'm making 300-350 to the ground on sequentials on a Stage 1 Exedy clutch, VERY happy with it. Just a little heavier clutch, but full face clutch and super smooth and easy to drive.

I don't think you need to go for the Hyper Single unless you're making more power.

A few things to note when you are looking at your clutch/driveline options:

* Peddle pressure will be determined by the pressure plate
* Clutch engagement harshness will be determined by the clutch disc
* Flywheel weight determines how quickly your revs drop (and rise)

With that, if your issue is with your current "pedal effort", then you likely only need to look at a different pressure plate.

The pedal effort doesn't bother me much (anything heavier might be fatiguing, though), but I like to keep my options open when it comes to wear items like the clutch. The FD is making about 325 hp and it was raced in time attack, so it won't require the more extreme clutch options.

Most of the wear is on the clutch disc (and flywheel), not the pressure plate. If you are ok with your current pedal effort, then you can seek to only replace the disc if you are concerned about the wear from the previous owner.

Thanks! It seems to clamp well now, but I'll replace the friction disc if it starts to wear out after this season's lapping days.

Honestly, I think I just like the purple color of Exedy's pressure plate covers.
