new clucth which is the best?
i have been looking at replacing my clucth and there are so many i was thinking about the hks and the cusco the clucth. which is better any comments and its a self install also.

go stronger than your power goals, but not too extreme.
I think the ACT ZX3-XT00 is a good setup. full clutch disk (not a 6 puck or 4 puck) and will handle 450 lbs. I had a 9lb flywheel and a six puck on my last car and it was alright for daily driving. alright.. not good. and it was bad for someone that had never driven that style of clutch. But for an FD... do it once, do it right.

ACT unless it's a pure off road car. Anything else is a major bitch to drive from what I've been told. The ACT fits motorsports needs as well as being a streetable clutch.

a buddy of mine has an ACT in his WRX, i was able to drive it without any problems at all. i've never driven a car with an aftermarket clutch and the ACT felt great to me. i've heard a lot of other good things about ACT too, plus they've much friendlier on the wallet compared to HKS or Cusco.

go with the ACT HD pressure plate and disc......it is an oem style disc but the stronger pressure plate is great for slightly higher than stock power levels....the feel is stock and wont need getting used to........ive been running mine with the act set for about 10k miles....nothing but thumbs up!
Just be sure to give the clutch 500-1000 miles of good break-in...this will greatly improve the longevity of the disc and allow it to work more efficiently.

I've had my ACT street clutch for about 35k miles with a resurfaced flywheel and it still grabs hard. i heard you lose some higher end torque with a very light flywheel. don't know if its true or not.

How much horsepower?
There's absolutely no reason to buy more clutch than you need. More clamping power won't make the clutch last longer, it will just force your left leg to work harder.

hehe, i have the spec stage3 with 6puck. and the 9pound flywheel
throttleresponse is amasing. but it sucks for city driving, its wierd but i never seeme to get used to it, allways act strange, but the bastard grips, there is np doubt about it

check out RPS clutches.my last car (240) had a spec stage 4.it was a rough and tough **** i loved it.it hurt to push it in over a extended amount of time.i loved it.

). BUT I would not call it a streetable clutch. You would not be able to valet a car with this clutch, and you will probably stall it occasionally if you aren't focused on driving while starting from a stop. It would be a bad idea to use this in a daily driver or any other <400 RWHP car that you aren't fully expecting to have a very grabby clutch in.-Max

i found my exedy hyper single to be pretty easy to drive... i doubt if break-in w a cerametallic is an issue. maybe our clutch pedals are adjusted differently. i would call mine streetable. i am installing a double ceramic currently as the single wouldn't hold my motor at it's present state of tune.

there are tones of good clutches, single disc, twin, triple.....
HKS, Mazdaspeed, ACT, Centerforce, OS Giken, ...... list can go on
if ur just doing daily driving and be able handle some drag and some road/circuit racing every now and then..... ACT street/strip will do the job just fine... just keep in mind organic compound disc have a softer grip when engaged than a 6 puck disc if u care about comfort...

I just bought a Carbonetic twinplate. http://www.carbonetic.net/ It is lighter than the D-Core and has a higher torque rating.

I had an ACT with a heavy duty pressure plate and got stuck in traffic on a weekly basis with it. I'm not exactly a monster like Mr. Ihor Huk, but have pretty strong legs (I was a relatively successful mountain and road bike racer:p). I didn't think it was too bad in traffic, but it did get tiring when inching along in first gear for extended periods of time. One thing that really helped was replacing the dirty hydraulic fluid.
