The cartridges on the new turbos are longer than the stock cartridges That is why a spacer is needed between air pipes . Guess how I know . Paul is correct .

I thought he was talking about how Garfinkles turbos were hitting the LIM. That was cause of the different compressor housings he used for Garfinkle set

The intake snap ring to the edge of the exhast hausing on the stockers measures 1.55 inches . The intake snap ring to the exhast housing on the new cartridges measures1.98 inches .

im sure you can all see the amount of work thats been done on these VERY hibrid twins. . . the turbine housings have been hi-temp coated with a ceramic coating. these things are . . . bad. . .

and heres a pic of this LIM. . . i love this thing!!!

have fun. . . sorry it took so long!!!

Here's my question:

Does Garfinkle ever drive the car, or just build on it?

lol, from those pics, it looks like the only thing that was left alone with those twins was the exhaust port (its the only thing not polished) . but its probablly ported so its not stock either. nice setup, what boost levels will those things run at?

the car will be together in under a month. . . dyno comes whenever steve kan can get out here. . . trust me guys this car is GONNA run!!!! no. . . there is NOTHING stock about these twins. the hks bov has been welded onto the y-pipe and the welds were built up so that he could smooth it out to make it look like it was cast that way. . . im sure you can tell in the pics. if you look at the separated section on the y-pipe you can see the custom spacer he made on a lathe. . . to make sure it had a good seal he put FIVE o-rings inside it. . . as opposed to the ONE that the stocker comes with. . . its VERY hard to pull this thing apart.

the turbos are going on today to get the "clockwork" done. . . getting the positioning right. the most amazing part is the fact that ALL bolts are safety wired. . . this thing isnt coming apart. hahaha.

this car is gonna fly. . . very much so. . . im sure hes gonna have to look into another lsd sometime soon. . . hehe. . . but well see.

Umm, the measurment that Duboisr posted has nothing to do with power, he's just measuring the distance from the compressor housing to the turbine housing.

Evenstill, .4 of an inch would be a HUGE difference if we were talking compressor wheels. That would be like the difference in a 62-1 and a T72......10mm

Tell, Garfinkle he did a GREAT job, also ask him where those actuators came from. I might be needing them for another "project" coming up

STEPHEN

All I can say is.....WOW! These are the most highly polished FD twin turbo setup I have ever seen. I guess the trick will be in keeping them that way once the car (if the car)sees the road. I mean, when he opens the hood, it will be Raiders of the Lost Ark for anyone who looks into the engne bay!

believe me. . . its fast. he took me for a ride before it was even tuned. . . just had a bastard map from steve kan in it. he LOVES to drive his car. his motor blew a coolant seal and he had to take it out. i cant wait to see what his car does when its finalized. its gonna be amazing.

stephen. . . those actuators are homemade. . . im sure hed help you out if you asked him nicely. hahaha.

Paul, what psi did he boost to with you?

When we went out that one time before the coolant issue, he hit 11psi and said that's the hardest he's taken it so far. Seems like right after that the engine was out. And DEAR GOD...... we could've outrun a freakin F16!! When I drove it, i only got to 5psi and only for just a second, nearly wet myself. Not to mention it sounds hidiously awesome with that whole setup. Ammmmmmazing car........simply a work of art. David cracks me up, jeremy does more though

Jack ,when he put the turbos in he was seeing a quick 17 lbs . I think Paul was with him on the back streets behind the house at 17lbs for a few quick spool ups . After that the boost was turned down because the maps were guess work . Ask Paul to be sure I am correct .
