new bits, low boost

Over the winter I've added a new ASP large IC and a Power FC, among other things.

Before the new parts I had problems keeping my boost below 12 psi (using PFS PMC to control boost)

Now, using PFC, I'm struggling to boost above 9 psi. I have base duty set at up to 80% and desired boost set at up to .85 kg/sq cm (about 12 psi). I don't necessarily want to run that much boost, but I should be able to set it there if desired...

It would seem I have a significant boost leak somewhere, but everything looks tight.

One thought... right now I'm venting the AWS hose since the new Greddy elbow lacks a nipple for it. Could that be the leak? I'll try capping that and let you know...

Hopefully I answered my own question

Well I was hoping to have some replies poo-pooing the notion that venting the AWS would create a boost leak because...

I capped it off, took 'er for a spin, and the first time I put my foot into it I hit 14 psi and about had the back end come around on me. Yee-ha! I backed off the base duty and have it under control at a rough 10-8-10.

Interesting others have not noted the leak. Surely my case is not unique?

Everyone else just blocks it off or caps it off in the first place....

Good detective work. One time, my aws hose was removed from the inlet elbow for some work and not clamped back on. Now that was a LOUD boost leak.

I was following Max Cooper's writeup here. He tried it vented and plugged and ended up having another bung welded on the elbow. He complained only of oil leaking when vented and did not comment on a boost leak.

Yes, he has since plugged it and never had any problems. I removed mine and blocked it off. Aside from blowing my engine at the track at our last outting, it didn't cause me any problems.
