1. What type of tires are you using and what are your thoughts on them? For example, grip, wear, street use, etc.

2. Have you thought about using RE Amemiya's rear diffuser? Here is a pic of Jay's FD with the diffuser.
1)
using 285/30WR-18 Kumho Ecsta V700, they are great for wear and provide decent grip, and they are the cheapest track tire in my size so that is why i use em :-)

dont want to wear em out on teh street but i have to drive my car to the tracks, so the kumos lasted 5 hours trip to ra (10 total), full weekend of track (many track miles), then 6 hours trip to MAM (12 hours total), 3 full days (silly amount of track miles) and had another event left but got flatspotted so i had to get new ones :-) so for my case where i have to drive to the tracks on em, they are perfect. once i get a minittriler thing and can haul extras, ill drive to the track on em, switch to stickier tires, and when they cord, put the kumos back on and run more :-)

2) yeah, i looked at the rear defuser, ill get one eventually :-) looks great on that car

one last thing (sorry for all the questions)... i noticed in the test video that you swivel the camera at the begining and end of footage. are you using extension poles from the mount to the camera? is there a quick release mechanisim to swivle by hand, or can you electronically control the movement of the camera from inside the cockpit? thanks damian, and nice videos once again. when my 20b is done i hope to add to the ever growing FD video collection (of which you seem to be a large contributor hehe). -heath
RotorMotor, the swivel that you see in Damian's cup mount test video is just him opening and closing. I'm pretty sure he stuck the camera mount to the door

Thumbs up

Thanks for answering the questions, now I can't wait for you to give a response on the rear diffuser if you eventually get the product.

no, they way i mount now is with 3 cups, triangulating as best I can so that that I eliminate vibration for all 3 axis (x,y,z)...however due to mounting locations its not always possible

the cups are soft rubber and can hold much more than what the camera weighs, and the surface area of just one cup is realativly large, so there is a lot of car body surface to distribute the camera weight, now add another 2 cups and you have even more surface area to hold the cam.

the air drag on a small camera (has with little surface area) is not enough even at 160mph to do any permanent deformation on the car body in the locations I have mounted.

thanks for the compliment on teh videos

well, for the blue i would go look at the 3rd gen advanced tech forum and look for posts from me, that will give you an idea on what I have done to the car:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-archives-73/

and for the yellow, look at this thread, the previous owner lists the mods:

Hey thanks for the awesome entertainment!!!

Few comments---really appreciate the sound of the engine. Much prefer that over music.. Just love the sound of the rotary!!!
Amazing what these little engines can do with a little help.
Good thing those tire marks headed off the track in the one place were not yours..wonder what the outcome would be doing over a 100.
Didn't appear as if the downshifts (in terms of speed variation) necessarily warranted it but do you heel-toe much?
Thanks again. Keep them coming...
