i use adobe after fx for special fx (speedo, et) and abobe premiere pro for editing
i only run 12-13 lbs at the track so im guess rwhp at the track right now is around 340-350
it supposedly dynoed at 370 at 15 lbs.

No, we don't have videos like Redline. We have better videos such as the one posted above showing the car doing more than driving down a road or making big power. Much better in my opinion.

Ya know I had a ton of stuff that I needed to get done today/tonight but I've been on this damn board and emails with car crap all F'ing day that I didn't get a damn thing done. Grrr kicking myself in the ***. What does that have to do with Damian's awesome videos? Well nothing. I just needed a place to say it. Sorry.

thanks Kevin, ...get that black monster running and let go mix it up on the track!!!!
i dont use the cannon to mount anymore, to big, i use the very small panasonic, but its still 3ccd so i get the quality level i want for dvd production....it was only like
$700
the cannons are used for non-mounting footage

lol well our huge *** canon is an XL1, the big odg:
http://www.canondv.com/xl1s/
the gl1 is what i mounted at first, and it is now updated to the gl2:
http://www.canondv.com/gl2/gl2_flash.html
and now i mount it a bit differently as you will see in the thread once i post it.
Damian, do you shoot in frame mode?
I dont know what type of editing software you use, but a lot of the poor contrast/depth of field issues typically associated with DV can be resolved in post (grading etc)
Thanks,
Matthew Walsh.

Damian,
Sorry about the editing software, I must have missed it
.
As far as the depth of field/ grading issues are concerned, they are problems inherent in any video production.
In my opinion, I have found frame mode to look much better than regular no matter what medium it is transfered to. Anyway, this discussion is kind of pointless because I doubt that you really care that much about the production quality of you films. (not trying to be a dick)
So let me just say that the footage looks f'n awesome
I wish that I had the time to persue similar endeavors.
Thanks,
Matthew Walsh

are you kidding me, ive spent many years working on the quality aspect, and its an art just as much as its a science, but its not about that with these vids, no one is paying me 10,000 to make a production video out of these, if they were then id take the time to do things outside normal knowlegde,..... its about time and money....not about passion or knowledge....i hve PLENTY of the latter.
if anyone can do better in the 2 hours i take to hack the vids from the raw footage (that is the only time i have to spend on them)...then i will listen to any critisism they have for me :-)

its not ment to have music to it, the purpose was to have no music, just engine sound.
the other vids have music. ;-)
damian, nice video! i ve been watching the camera suction mount test video.... ive been wanting to get a good mount for awhile.
can you tell me more about your mount?? is it a large single suction cup mount, or a mount with 4 individual cups? where do you fasten it, to the body or windows? i'd be worried about suctioning it to the body because im affraid of leaving a big 'dent' where the suction cup is placed, or ripping paint off. can you tell me where you have mounted it, and also if you have had any problems with messing up the paint/body of the car? how long can you suction it to the car for? (i guess that depends on the weight of the camera). and how hard can you drive with the camera mounted to the outside of the car? id be worried about loosing the camera (since they are not so cheap)... or if i was filming on say a highway, getting the camera hit by a rock or the like... that would ruin the fun.
one last thing (sorry for all the questions)... i noticed in the test video that you swivel the camera at the begining and end of footage. are you using extension poles from the mount to the camera? is there a quick release mechanisim to swivle by hand, or can you electronically control the movement of the camera from inside the cockpit? thanks damian, and nice videos once again. when my 20b is done i hope to add to the ever growing FD video collection (of which you seem to be a large contributor hehe). -heath

This is my first time viewing your vids and they are truly outstanding
I have a few questions for you.
1. What type of tires are you using and what are your thoughts on them? For example, grip, wear, street use, etc.
2. Have you thought about using RE Amemiya's rear diffuser? Here is a pic of Jay's FD with the diffuser.
