new 99 efini twins, damaged turbo precontrol actuator

I just received new 280hp twins, but after taking them over I discovered turbo precontrol actuator to be squashed a bit:

(Sorry for the bad picture, it was done with the phone in a hurry)

Now this doesn't look so good and I have few question:

1.) Is there a chance that is this precontrol actuator still functional? Even the nipple is squashed...

2.) Is there a simple way to test it?

3.) If it doesn't work anymore, will it stay closed? This means, when driving, the secondary turbine would come online slower, since it doesn't have any prespool air?

4.) Does 99 precontrol actuator have restrictions built in the nipple instead of hose restriction pill? This basically means I can put old twins precontrol actuator and just use it's precontrol pill in hose and it should work fine, right? Are there any other differences beetwen 99-02 and 92-98 versions of precontrol actuators?

Thank you so much for helping me out here.

That's funny, it's not the first time I have seen this exact problem. You can reuse your old one, it is not exactly like the new improved actuator but it will work.

I think it will still work. Just test it manually.

I had the same exact problem. They don't package these turbo's very well. My shop just reused the old one.

Yeah you can get a NEW one

or re-use your old one like mentioned before.

Turbos should be backed in WOOD, but it gets damn heavy..... We double box them with lots-o-paper.

Off topic too.

When Mazda released the series-8 version onto the Japanese market in Jan-99, it was sold as a Mazda RX-7, Not an Efini RX-7 as the previous series-7 (96-98) & series-6 (92-95) before it.

What did you pay for the turbo's too by the way..........??

And some more different angles high resolution photos you can find here:

Anyway, I bought turbos for fairly low $2500 from some anonymous source in US.

However, does anyone know where (malloy?) can I find new '99 actuator or even used one? I've searched a bit around, and find some price $175, but maybe that's for both actuators... seems high, anybody knows the price @ malloy? -Thanx.

Hehe, all RS/RZ '99 turbos look the same These ones are not from e-bay.

The turbos were insured, but it is no use since I'm in Europe and this came from US and I'm not sending this twins back because of a broken actuator - it takes too much time, expenses, delays and worries to get them... In my case there really isn't much use out of insurance...

TAKE A PICTURE. GO ONLINE..... Most places will do it online now, and then just send the picture and info..

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there is NO visable damage to the outside of the BOX your SOL, since that means it was a bad pack job by the person you bought it from..

Really? That's a great info and it might come very useful in the future.

Anyway, the supplier has offered me to send me new actuator, so this issue will get solved. BTW, the box was damaged a bit and I don't doubt it was squashed during transport...
