Need Windshield

Hi-

I have a large (15") crack in my windshield (1993 mazda rx7). Does anyone know of a good place to get a new or used windshield for a reasonable cost. I live just north of Philly so any local places would be of interest (although I am not against having one shipped).

thanks!
Bob

I just wanted to add that in Mass. the insurance companies are REQUIRED by state law to include covering the cost of new windshields (up to 1 per year per car). The state evidently assumes that it's enough of a health hazard to you and other drivers that it's worth it to have it fixed ASAP.

Your insurance company might have a similar policy, you should check with them before paying for it yourself.

Mahjic your link has nothing to contribute to the actual question.

Bob as 911gt said in most states insurance is required to pay for a new windshield without you paying the deductable. So I would get the most expensive one and go to someone that really knows how to install it and then send your insurance the bill.

Actually it does if you read it. It gives several options and opinions on what to get to replace the windshield. It has good info that some people might not think about when replacing one, especially the post by donny.

I think the state of kentucky replaces them free of charge, due to safety concerns.

You can buy a PPG windshield for $250 at any windshield repair place or you can buy the Mazda one for $750.00.

The mazda one is thinner. I had both.
