Need technical info

Hi, I'm pretty new to sports cars, and turboed cars in general and I'm thinking of getting an FD here very soon. I had some final questions on the cars engine and other parts. I was hoping some of you could help me with these, and possibly recommend some stuff.

First off, what is a good compression number for the engine to have? I have seen people selling everything in an FD with compression of 7 all the way to 13-14. Are these good numbers, or what is a good number?

Whats the best way to get rid of heat under the hood? I've heard downpipes, and exhaust systems work great. Either one, can anyone recommend something good?

How costly is a rebuild, and is it possible to do it myself? Also, are 3mm apex seals worth it on a stock engine? I've heard that unless you push over 300 hp, you should stick with the 2mm ones. I guess I need more info on that stuff...

How can I crank up the boost on the turbos? Do I need a controller to do that? I want to tune the car to have about 280-290 hp, I dont think I need any more than that.

What air-induction kit works best, and do the air-induction headlight covers really do anything?

What other reliability mods can I do to help keep the car running it's best?

Thanks for all the help.

How much time have you spent reading these forums? There is a TON of knowledge out there, you just need to find it.

Someone else asked a similar questoin to yours, just today:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/so-im-thinking-about-getting-fd-336933/

searching for "healthy compression numbers" will give some good results. The search page is https://www.rx7club.com/search.php

Why would you want to turn up the boost if you're 'pretty new to sports cars, and turboed cars in general' ? Don't do it, you'll be sorry.

Follow all the links suggested at the other person's newbie question, that should be plenty of info, you can spend a few hours reading that, and then still need to read it again to catch all the stuff you missed the first time.
