Need some advises for buying a RX-7
I am thinking of getting a used RX-7 (3rd G), but a lot of people tell me DON'T.
Can anyone tell me is it ture that the RX-7 has a lot of problem, big and minor specially the engine, and it is really hard to fix?
Also, where should I look at when checking a used RX-& to see if it is in good condition.
Thanks.

Wow aren't cars really expensive in Hong Kong, thats what my friend told me last time he went to Hong Kong. Are there a lot of 3rd gen RX7's out there. I don't know what to tell you, because if it's hard to get parts for the car out there then I would say don't buy it. But if 3rd gens are common out there I don't see why not. The motor is going to give you problems sooner or later thats why I asked if you can get parts out there.
If I were looking at a used RX7 I would hook up a boost gauge up to it to see if you are getting good boost, it supposed to read 10-8-10.

cheak out this forum for awhile before u even look at one for starters. Get a car-fax ran to make sure of the cars history is a must. When u go to look at one make sure the owner hasnt warmed the car up before u arive! On a cold start u will be able to see if the motor is excessively blowing smoke or any coolant related problems. Cheak the coolent overflow tank for any oil that might leaked into it . The o rings might be going and a rebuild might be required. If u think the owner is on the up and up i would get the car cheaked out by a good rotary mechanic and get a compression test done. Im sure others have more things to tell u but just be very careful before u buy one of these cars. If i were u i would keep 5 grand around for repairs just in case of a blown motor or turbos. This does not even include the reliaibility modifications that are required to keep this car running healthy. GOOD LUCK!

Look around before you buy... just dont rush into it. Make sure that you are willing to go through everything the car will do to you over time... little fixes here and there and also... what other people do to the car. It is a high maintainance car when compared to a honda or toyota. Just make sure you want it bad enough to give it more attention. Its a great car and I love it... it makes the bad days good when i drive it home.
