Need some advice..

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum, and new to the rotary community. I love the rx 7 and I'm looking for a fun, and fast car.. I found the car that I'm looking for. A '93 R1 (what does R1 mean). There is a brand new engine w/1600 miles on it. The owner put a lot of money into the engine w/receipts to back it up. The car pretty much has all the mod's I'm looking for. Should I buy this car considering I'm not going to be able to test drive the car and will have to base my decision on pictures and the guys word (seems like a cool guy)? The car is located on the east coast and I'm on the west coast.

This car will not be my daily car. Its going to be my weekend fun car! I don't really know much about building my own car and that's why I'm looking for a car that has already been modified. Thank you for any help..

Maybe you should list the mods on the vehicle,

even through its got a new motor, it might be a idea to get a paper copy of a compression test done by a reputable shop.

R1, its the sport edition, I dont know exactly what it stands for but, its lighter, stiffer suspension, cloth seats, R1 lip and wing, dual oil coolers.

There is a good FAQ for buyers at the top of this section.

The RX-7 is a fast, fun and pricey car. You should be prepared to buy a new engine any day, even if there are only 1600 miles on it. The engine is only as good as the builder, mods, and tune to match.

As cash money said, the R1 is the performance model, however the R1 is heavier than the Base model and lighter than the Touring model. It's the middle weight, not the lightweight. And it comes with faux suede seats, not cloth.

And like cash money said, read the FAQ. There's a ton of useful info in there. Read it twice.

I would never buy an FD without a test drive. Or at the very least, having a trusted and FD-knowledgeable person of YOUR choosing look it over for you.
