need some advice

I've had my RX7 for about one year now and it's been great. It's a 1993, not R1 or Touring. It has a downpipe, m2 intake, and catback exhaust. I was planning on getting a PFC and having Demetrios Karagiannis tune it. I live in the Rockville, MD area.

Anyways, the other day we had a huge storm (I live in a wooded area, **** gets all over the road) and I guess I wasn't thinking the next day when I gunned it around a turn. I hit a sandy/gravely/just plain dirty sun spot and my rear end swung around to my right. (I was turning to the left) I turned into it but it still jerked hard back and I popped up onto the curb (which was on my right). I nailed a little tree at around 10 mph. I have pictures that I will upload later. My dad insisted on getting an estimate before I came and tried to deal with it myself, but now that we've SEEN the estimate, here I am.

Basically here's what happened to the car - The front bumper and spoiler both need to be replaced - they are busted. The hood is fine and latches as normal. The engine bay wasn't TOUCHED (looks just like it always did). But I am concerned about a small indent in the intercooler (when I look under the car the intercooler has a little inlet/dent that goes in about half an inch and is about half a foot in diameter. It's only on the left side). The turbos boost fine, engine runs fine. There are no leaking fluids or anything. The front left tire popped, the rim got chipped, and it really screwed up the front suspension. I have to turn my wheel about 45 degrees to the right to drive straight on the spare wheel, and I smell burning rubber when I do it. Also, the front left headlight cover is chipped, so I would need a new one of those. Oops, I forgot to mention that I totally clipped off my right side mirror.

Anyway - that's what is wrong with the car. I will upload pictures later tonight so you can see for yourself what the problems are.

Here is the estimate:

It hardly looks beat up... It's so beautiful

notice the elevated light

ouch!

I have no mirror

Chipped light cover...

You can see how far back the wheel is in relation to where it should be. My full size wheel rubbed against the car before I took it off.

The damage is on the front left part of the front bumper.

To save some money instead of getting brand new mazda parts try to get a godd condition used ones from people on the forum. Heck it may even be body kit time. I found it was cheaper for me to get a body kit than it was to by the oem replacement bumpers when I was getting my body work done. Same thing for the mirror find someone parting out a car. If you wanted new mirror so they are on sale here for 275 http://www.rotaryextreme.com/clear.html .

for the suspension. Again you can find some one part out a car and just buy the whole assemebly and put it on yourself to save some money and then just pay to have it aligned. I'm not sure about the ic though. As long as it still holds pressure your good, the dent may just reduce its preformance a little depending on how big it is.

i would serioulsy not drive the car for now untill you find out what the hell happened to your suspension/steering rack. in anycase, just look in the forsale forum and you can find everything you need. hell you can just buy a new/nicer front end and paint it if you wish. since your on the mainland, one can be had for under 300 bucks shipped so cosider yourself lucky. everything else is pretty cheap used.

live and learn from your accident.

BTW: holy ****, how can it cost like 600 bucks to replace a frotn bumper? its 10 10mm screws hahaha. if you can turn a door ****, you should beable to replace it yourself!!!

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I'm going to look into handling this myself opposed to throwing down four grand. I'll get a close up of the intercooler tonight when I can get a good flash pic of it. Also, I think you're right about driving it. It's going to stay right there until I can get that figured out. I'm going to get it fixed first before I worry about cosmetics. Again thanks for the advice
