I had the Mazdaspeed EXEDY---Yeah it lasted about 2 months, my OS is on almost 3 years one overhaul since I was granny shifting with my NEW engine and tore it up.

Lone wolf did you look at the plates before you put them in? They are aleady pretty thin brand new

2 years is good wear, just have fun overhauling it. Chances are EVERYTHING will be bad.

how long does the act one with the heavy duty pressure plate and stock street disc last at 300-325 at the wheels? drag once every 2 months?

i am wondering because a lot of people arent even making it to 2 years???!

I'm using a Pineapple 6-puck (sprung hub) disc w/ a JUN 4 kg flywheel.

This is not a setup for pussies or drivability whiners.

But it is definitely streetable, the only bitchy part about it is reverse - I'm hoping to fix that with new diff mounts and rear pillowballs.

I can only tell you what I found after doing a search on this forum and elsewhere a couple of weeks ago...
While there is a wide variety of clutch kits available, it seemed that everyone who had an ACT Street/Strip liked them. The reports indicated they hold well, they're durable, priced right and were only marginally heavier under foot.
I'll let you know in a week or so if all thats true after mine goes in

Has anyone purchased the Exedy kit from that guy on eBay? I think I'm just going to replace mine with that because it's a stock replacement unit, and I don't plan on making much power over stock... Any opinions? It'd be nice to save 200 bucks.

Yeah I know that's true, but I don't need a clutch capabable of holding 450 ft-lbs, and this thing looks like it has genuine parts. Exedy is a good company, no?

EDIT: Hmmm... I see what you mean. Time to see how much the stocker costs.

I used to have an Integra GSR with an Exedy organic clutch, worked just fine. No it's not an FD but then again their GSR application is rated for 243 lb/ft and their FD application is rated for 402 lb/ft so I'm sure it has the holding power you need. I bought mine from www.clutchcityonline.com.

It's time to change my clutch. I don't know much about clutches and their differences(6 puck,single,twin,etc). I know it sounds stupid.
What I want is a clutch that can hold about 350hp. Pretty much like others, I use mine as a dailydriver as well as some track events.

So far I've read, ACT S/S would be a good choice.
Have any of you use OS giken? Are they any good?
Please help me pick a candy in this candy store. (or must i say lollies here in Australia :P)

the ZX3-HDOO Clutch Kit ?
as far as I know, the difference is better torque capacity than the other.

Act S/S pressure plate and disc should be fine for your app, I don't think you need to go with the Extreme pressure plate, I think all that will do for you is Popeye your left calf.

I've been using the Standard Clutch Kit from Rotary Performance (www.rx7.com) since I've had my car and like it very much. It holds all the power and wears great even though I launch it hard over and over and over at autox events. I wouldn't buy anything else unless I made lots of power and needed a stronger pressure plate.

For $350 you get the the clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing, pilot bearing and seal.
