need money, might want to sell 8 and buy 7.

I need money to move into a really nice house and was thinking of selling my 8(worth about 27,000) and buying this rx-7(17,000) so I could leave with 10k and have enough to pay rent. What do you guys think of this 7?

If you buy the 7 you will need the $10k to maintain it. These cars are not cheap to own. At least your rx8 is under warranty.

That $10k will not be in his pocket for long if he buys an RX-7.

Exactly. If you are conserned about saving money, the rx-7 will be a poor choice in the long run. Keep the 8, or sell it and buy something else.

I have an 8 and 7FD and I now have more money in FD than the 8 cost. Every time I look
at the FD it says "I want more money."

Is the rx8 your dd? The 7 is far faster than the 8, and IMO its far sexier :-P. If its your dd tho, I would expect relablility issues in the future.. In the first month of owning my 7 something already broke (speedometer). Its not a big thing, but its an annoyance. I'm prepared for more issues, but I still love the car, and it's not my dd, so its great for me. If you can afford to let the 7 sit in the garage for a while, the 10k might be useable, otherwise I'd save it for the car.

Otherwise, I'd suggest an s2k or mr2. You'll miss the rotary tho

Not a good idea if its your dd.

he FD will cost you much more than you are willing to pay in maintenance alone.

to answer your question, see if that person has replaced his engine yet, that or if and when the reliability mods were done.

your mistake is paying rent.. buy a house after you sell your 8... then see how things go.

Modding a house can be as fun as modding a car...

Erm, where are you gonna get 27k for your rx-8?
Please let me know so I can dump mine. If you look around these car's are going for tons less than what KBB says.

I see that here in Cali the 8s are going for less than trade-in. What's up?

If you are financing the 8, you will still need to pay off the loan... and unless you have $17k cash for the 7, you will need to take out a loan for it as well.

After looking at the link, you might be able to find a less expensive one and much better quality. The deal closer for me would be the paint color change.

I wouldn't get that 7 until after thorough inspection, test driving, EXACTLY when the newer engine was installed, etc... just seems a little shady, and with no engine shots...

yes, smart answer right here

def buy a house, your mortgage payments will def NOT be as low as your rent payment..at that time, you'll wish you never got another car at that price range, you'll have wanted something less expensive..

house > car

by you saying you're paying rent, that shows how much money you wasted..

sell the 8 and dont get anything yet, buy a house first man, you'll need a downpayment..and unlike cars, houses increase in value (so to speak), you live in there for a while, fix it up a bit (kinda like modding a car ) and you'll end up making ALOT..then you can go back and buy the 8 and the 7!! lol
