Cool Need Insurance Help With Sale Prices!

My insurane decided to pay my claim, but of course for less than I want. I need need some help with some recent or semi-recent sale prices preferably on the Eastern US.

My car was an R-1 with sots of expensive parts especially since it was a Apexi RX6 single turbo conversion. Car had 80K miles and was in quasi-perfect condition. Many performance upgrades such as an FC Commander, coilovers, Koyo radiator, FMIC, Greddy Profec B boost controller, Wideband O2 sensor, etc. You get the idea, the usual wad of cash in FD form.

Looking for 15k+ sales prices. Please send me any links that you may have.

Thanks all for your support!

Just curious what is your insurance trying to give you?

That sucks man, whenever I find an R2 for sale I print out the ad and put it in a file just for that reason.

$12k. I'm in China right now on business and then I will be in Spain for a couple of weeks so it is really hard to be dealing with all of this crap. Besides that, I'm in the process of moving from Atl to Philly.

My car was sweet and had absolutely no problems and was clean. The tune on it was also excellent running (I'm assuming) close to 400 horses at 15 PSI.

Well, you are going to have a hard time getting much more than that from the insurance company. I've seen cars with single conversions selling for $14-18k. There is one for sale right now for $12k. However, there are others which sell for $20-35k but those usually have upgraded wheels, bodykits, interior changes, etc..

I had upgraded wheels and a Mazda Speed spoiler. Anything beyond that reduces the price IMO. Since the insurance wants to play stupid and act like they don't know that modifications can increase the sale price of a car, I need to show them examples of when it does.

Thet are not playing stupid - modifications may increase the asking price of an FD but they don't increase the sale price (20B or LS-1 excepted). You got about what you would get on the open market.

I had just purchased the car on the open market. If I could have gotten it for 12 I would have. However, after months of looking, this was the best, cleanest example or an R1 that I could find with the mods that I wanted. I only had the car for a couple of months so my purchase price was pretty close to the open market price. I'm a bargain hunter and if there was a better deal, I would have sapped it up.

Here's a link to one for sale now:

However, I don't think your insurance company is going to budge. You'll have to get an appraiser to say the car is/was worth more than what they are giving. They aren't going to care if you send them examples of what people are paying for them.

$14.6 isn't bad. I'd take it.

Yeah, I can't deal with this right now so I'm taking their offer. I got them to raise it another $164 as they had me without alloy wheels, when we all know what these things came with. Oh well, I know plenty of people who lost much more than I did on their FD. The sad part is, I was just starting to have fun. Maybe I'll get a Z06 next time. At least the insurance will pay better.

I still have my Miata, and although not as fun in a straight line, it is actually more fun on the corners.

I do have a set of O.Z. rims that were on the car when I bought it if anyone is interested.

Thanks all for your support and for being a great community!

very unfortunate to hear. The only way that the vast majority of FD owners would get their money out of their cars in the event of a wreck would be to buy it back from the insurance company and then part out the remaining stuff. Lots of work but you'd at least get more money out of the deal.
