Need to install Fuel Temp Sensor in Aftermarket Rail... uhhh-duh?
Need to get my car tuned, and XS Engineering won't touch it unless the secondary fuel rail has a fuel temperature sensor installed. Their labor rate for the FD is like $105/h and I am not going to pay someone $300 to do it for me. Ok, so now I have to drill a damn hole into my rail and throw one of those in there?
Anyway, if anyone has done this - please throw me some suggestions so I dont butt-f*ck the whole operation.
Do I use the stock one, or aftermarket, what connections do I need, etc etc.
Please throwdown some input.
Thanks

The best thing you can do right now is take your car as far away from them as possible and find someone who knows how to tune rx-7s. I have never heard of anyone being happy with a tune from them.
As far as the fuel temp sensor goes, it's not necessary. If you look at the PFC fuel temp correction maps, they're all 1.0.. i.e., no correction.

Sounds to me like they are trying to milk some more money out of you so they can install it themselfs. I have heard similar stories about XS like they wont do a tune unless the car has HKS plugs installed.

My bad then. I'm on the wrong coast to have first hand opinions about them. As much as I hate to spread the "I have heard blah blah" type of info, what I had heard from actual customers was pretty consistent. Nickel and dime over details and several have left with very poor tunes that had later been worked out by other tuners.
That said, I am glad you have had a good experience with them.

Honestly, I've heard mixed opinions about them. I talked to Steve about the fuel temp, and he said it is not necessary. I am not about to fork over the cash, so I posted in the West Section to find another tuner.
Thanks guys
