NEED HELP w/ Removing Tranny from Engine!!

So I have everything unbolted, all the bolts around the bell housing, however, I cant seem to slide the tranny off. I was told that I need to take a pry bar and disengage a gold ring around the throwout bearing.

I cant seem to disengage the forks that hook onto the throwout bearing! Anyone know exactly what I need to do? I did use search! Thanks!

There is a video around the forum somewhere, if you do a search you'll find it. Don't use a pry bar, use two long flat head screw drivers.

+1 .... You will have to remove inspection panel and remove bolts on pressure plate then it will release, FD's have a clutch tranny combo like GM, you have talk the bolts out in the pressure plate as they are screwed into the flywheel. The inspection plate will be on the bottom. Not hard, once all bolts are removed pressure plate can be pulled away from the flywheel.

Make sure to release pressure on the throw-out bearing by undoing the slave cylinder or by separating the clutch line.

Unbolting the pressure plate to the flywheel through that tunnel seems like a task and a half, how would i get the top bolts off?

You have to turn the engine to rotate the flywheel around.

Get out the FSM, go to page J-12 and do exactly what it says/shows, placing the screwdriver tip exactly where it shows behind of the wedge collar. It will pop right off if done correctly. The reinstall is not that bad either.

If you unbolt the clutch cover you will need a centering tool to reinstall it.

That's one way to do it but it's a whole lot easier to disengage the throw out bearing relase than to undo all the pressure plate bolts

Unbolting the pressure plate is a HACK for those who don't understand how the release collar works! If you understand how it works, it is VERY easy to separate the clutch release collar!... you don't need to resort to unbolting things.

Remove slave cylinder, push release collar against clutch with screwdriver, then swing the release fork. Done.
