Need Help! Transmission separation..
I need help! I'm pulling my Manual trans, and I can't seperate the release collar from the clutch cover. I have both service ports open, and I am able to swing the release collar towards the clutch cover. But I can't really tell where I'm supposed to pry with the screwdriver. The pics in the workshop manual are hard to relate to what I'm looking at. I've tryed a couple of different places and nothing seems to budge. If anyone has any tips or hints it would be greatly aprreciated.

There's a video out there somewhere showing how to do it.
Basicially, you're looking for the thin stamped sheet metal ring just behind the clutch but ahead of the fork. Take a wide tip long flat head and push it forward (towards the engine). As soon as you have it in, the fork should slide away from the clutch.
If you can't get it out, and I hear some will not come out, then you will have to unbolt the clutch from the flywheel. Never done this, but I can see it being a real pain in the ****.

I ended up having to unbolt my clutch cover. It was a slow process, but not too difficult. You just have to rotate the flywheel and loosen the bolts up.
Where in socal are you located?
