NEED help and info

Alright here is the situation: I want to buy an FD, and i can only go up to like 13,000 USD. My dad will buy it for me but if he sees that the car needs engine work, he gets turned off by that. My thinking is that if the car is that cheap, the money saved is worth that extra work. But I also want to know what kind of mileage you can get on FD's. My dad said that they are only made to last till like 60,000 miles. I am pretty sure he is wrong and I need to convince him that they last longer than that. Any info and advice would be great.

your dad is right, the engines in these cars do not last long at all.

the car costs more than you can afford.
