Need Help... IŽll make it easy, 2 Questions Yes or No ? Powdercoating/Oil @ Throttle

Guys, please your kind advice...

1.- Should I smooth (Sand it, Dremel, etc..) out LIM surface before powdercoating MATTE BLACK ??

2.- Is this normal after a rebuild and 1 hour driving from Shop to Home ??

I donŽt know if it haves to do but if Fuel Flooded some weeks ago when I tried to break the engine... I cleaned plugs and started right away... The to storage again...

if you have it powder coated, when it gets sand blasted it will help with any rough edges (not smooth it out) but when its coated, if the coater does 2 coats, it should come out smooth. you should not see the rough finish it has now.

1. That's a UIM, and you should have it sand/bead blasted if at all possible, soo much easier then sanding/dremeling to prep for powder coat. If you are having it powdercoated by someone else, most powdercoaters will sandblast the parts themselves.

2. That seems like a lot of oil in the intake track from a 1hr drive... Most likely the oil seals on the compressor side of your turbos are leaking. Check your intercooler, it should have a **** load of oil in it if that much made it to the UIM.

SO you mean I have problems with my turbos ?? When were taken out for rebuild they were VERY clean... This is my second set of twins and were installed just few miles ago, used but with less than 20.000 Miles...

So is not the engine... Is it something fixable ??

I mean, twins were NICE & CLEAN at the time of install before the one hour driving...

And now that I think about this, the I/C pipes were removed too and they are all very clean...

Oil from the engine should have no way of backing up to the UIM (unless some how you have a **** load of blow by within the engine making it back up thru the "pvc" valve route). This is very uncommon for twins, now if u had a giant single turbo, its a little more expected which is why people install a catch can...

Like I said earlier, pull off your intercooler and see if its full of oil. If it is, your oil control seals on the compressor (cold side) of the turbos are leaking oil. The fix for that is to rebuild the turbos with just new oil control seals...

from what I've read rebuilding twins can be trouble.
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/ht-12-twin-turbo-rebuild-815033/
check out this link, some people have rebuilt them and had them balanced by a turbo rebuild shop, with a good success rate. others have tried to just use witness marks to assemble the turbos in the same position as it was removed, which should in theory return it to its original balance. but with a much higher failure rate. hopefully your ic isn't full of oil, and ur "good" twins aren't leaking oil.
