Question Need help with a fuel pump.

Okay so, I got my RX-7 finally, but I need to replace the stock fuel pump because I'm not even gettin 40 psi. Haha. Anyways, I was wonderign about the Cosmo fuel pump, the Walbro fuel pump the Apexi and the Venom one. I am running a stock engie set up right now, well with an Ractive intake but that doesn't count :P Ummmmmmm, can anyone advise please?

How are you measuring the fuel pressure? The pressure should be below 40 psi except under boost.

If by chance it is a faulty fuel pump, I would get the Cosmo/Supra Nippon Denso pump. It will have OEM reliability and will flow enough for reasonable mods in the future.

Get the cosmo which I believe is the same as a Supra TT fuel pump. Don't get the walbro no matter what. Haven't heard of the other 2.

here's a write up:

Wait wait, okay we measured the fuel preasure whe tryin to start the car becasue it wont start. But the mechnical book says that a rx-7 should be running around 107 psi. Does this mean my fears maybe true and that my Car does need a new engie becasue it may be blowen from the previouse owner? Ahhhhhhhh shiat. Please advise! And thanks for the info.

Just incase anyone was wondering about the engine. It has 80k miles on it. When I try and start it the engine catchs the fuel and air for a second but the doesn't start....I fear this might be a blown engine. Does anyoe have a simple way I can check if it is without takin the entire thig apart? Compression checks or maybe something like that?

try flooring the gas all the way while cranking

also try to pushstart the car after that

If that doesn't work, take out all 4 spark plugs and leave them out for 24 hours in case the engine is flooded and get new plugs and replace them.

Even a severely blown engine will start although it is more prone to flooding so I wouldn't say that you have a blown motor. What I mean is you should be able to start it every time but maybe you'll have to have the gas all the way down to stop gas from getting into the primaries. There are also fuses that could be blown or relays. Bad coils or plug wires or a missing or bad ground. There's lots of things, a motor that won't start is usually something dumb rather than a blown motor.

let us know what happens
