Just put a new engine end and when I start it, the rpms keeps climbing all the way up to about 4.5. We check the tps and we are not sure if it is broken or not. when we put the tps in, it is already postioned 1/4 of the way. Anyone have a spare tps sensor they could look at for me? If you look at the inside of the sensor with the connector facing down. Mine goes lie this ( from left to right ) hole for screw, tab, tab whole for screw. it all runs strait a cross. me friend thinks the tabs should be oppisite of the screw holes, thus making a cross if drawn a line though. or if you think the tps ok please do tell me what could be causing the engine to rev so high.

I donīt know what is happening to your car. Normally in cold start the revs goes up to 3000 rpm.

Just for look for a difference try to star it with the 1° gear engaged and see what happend?

Do you have an engine light failure code?
