need help with belt route
hey guys-
i just pulled my airpump and i was going to use the old string method for a belt, but have an important question.......Which way do i route the belt around the water pump? The way it was stock or kinda over the left top and down to the main pulley..? Thanks for your help..?

The belt will run straight up from the main crank pulley to the alternator belt and deflect off of the water pump. THe water pump must spin, as duboisr said, in a counter clockwise manner. If you run the belt over the water pump pulley, it will not pump water, only sit and cavitate, guaranteeing and overheat.

If you have stock pullies and do not get enought belt contact, you will need under drive pullies. Garfinkle makes an idler that replaces the air pump, you could do that also .
