Question Need Help with Apex FMIC and Fluidyne Rad

Has anyone installed their Apex FMIC with an after market rad? I was going through the instructions and there is mods that have to made to make it fit with the stock rad, will this work with a Fluidyne rad? It shows the Apex sitting inside the engine bay, very low. The way the Fluidyne is mounted now is semi horizontal does is get mounted in a vertical position? It also shows cutting a hole near the passenger frame, is this correct? Why does the Apex sit inside instead of the front. I knew that it was not as far forward as the others but this seems strange. I chose the Apex FMIC to go with the RX6 single turbo for an easy install, but it does not look simple with my rad.

Thanks for any help!

The radiator will be mounted vertical behind the intercooler. The Apex FMIC is a easier install than say the Greddy becasue you dont have to trim the front bumper. It will be an easy install with the Apex turbo. From what I have heard you may have to fabricate an upper bracket that holds the radiator.

I have the ultra large early model of the mazdacomp radiator with the apex front mount, I did not need to fabricate front upper brackets for it, I just modified the brackets the intercooler came with. One word of caution, make sure if you are retaining the a/c drier below the intercooler, be sure the intercooler is not sitting on the fins of the dryer, otherwise it WILL rub holes in the dryer and all your freon will leak out. Also be sure the radiator is not leaning on the end tanks of the intercooler when installed this also can rub and I have seen several radiators get "popped" because the sharp edges of the endtanks on the I/C cut into the tubes in the radiator. These are the only real concerns with this particular setup, and if you haven't started the install yet, you DO NOT need to remove the front bumper to install the i/c, unlike the instructions tell you. Good luck

Thanks Jason and Art. I found some pics with a Koyo. I am just a little disapointed, I have my GTC front and nothing to hang in there. What about the A/C condensor?

The AC condensor is mounted horizontal under the intercooler.
Dont be to disappointed. If you had the Greddy FMIC you would have to fabricate the pipe to the turbo which is a pain.
