Need Help And Advice!!!!!

First: So this is where i stand with my problem. I took in my car this last weekend to install the FD commander and boost control and finish up with a good tune as a christmas gift to my self. while the car was there it was found that i have a oil leak in the secondary turbo. Now I would love to just buy a used turbo in good condition since my extra cash flow isn't flowing that well this time of the year, but not sure if i should trust someone that the turbo will be in good condition. Dose anyone know of a reputable place that sells used and/or rebuilt turbos. Or should i just bite the bullet and buy new.

Second: About 3 weeks ago i noticed my clutch slipping when the second turbo kicked in. does anyone have a recommendation for brand of flywheel and clutch kit.

Thanks for any help.

Good tune in San Diego??? Who did you take it to?

Depending on the severity of the leak, it might be OK. It could just be the gasket for the oil line under the turbo. FDs tend to leak oil out of every orifice over time...

Check out the fAQ thread stickied here in this forum and what others have said about rebuilt turbos in the past. Generally its a crap shoot and finding a good used set of 15 year old turbos is kinda hard to do.

For clutch, consider an ACT street/strip. I loved that clutch in my last FD and will be installing another one in this FD. Check rx7.com and pettitracing for other options or search on this forum for other opinions.

I have an aluminum flywheel that I may be selling if you are interested.

1. I get all my cars tuned at JDM Concepts in oceanside. they work on everything under the sun. The owner and his right hand man are a little striaght forward sometimes about what you should and should not do to your car, but once you get to know them you realize they are that way because they will only do good work. if it shouldn't be done then they will not do it.

2. i'm leaking out of the secondary turbo. i'm getting a nice big grey cloud of smoke once the oil presure gose up.

3. after more research on this forum and finding out that the stock flywheel is 19 lb. and a street flywheel is around 12 lb. depending on the brand. do you guys think that it really matters if it just a daily driver/weekend worrior when i have the time? for close to the same price i can get a light weight driveshaft from the RX7store.net

Light flywheel or driveshaft have the same net effect - faster acceleration.

The flywheel will have greater effect, for sure, but at some cost in driveability. 12lb flywheel shouldn't be bad though.

If you're seeing smoke under throttle, yep your turbo is gone bad. Don't rebuild or buy a rebuilt turbo. Buy a new set or on a budget buy a set of really low mileage used turbos. Or get BNRs - he rebuilds the stockers but uses different internals so his rebuilds really are like new.
